First let me say....I love this site. It has so much information but you have to at least have a clue. Not sure if I even have that at this point. I have been reading about the problems people are having with burning dvds. I am in that category. I have a Sony DRX 510UL. And I have had it for some time. I burn dvds at work using an NEC**** don't know the rest because I am at home but it requires DVD+RW and the home burner is a DVD+-RW/+-R. I used Sony DVD+RW to burn from work. Then I want to transfer that information to DVD+R on the home burner. For some reason I can't even get the home burner to read any DVD. I think I tried the updating firmware. That didn't help. It is an external model and I am using Windows XP. Can someone please help me? I am on the verge of a breakdown or buying a new burner. Suggestions???!!!?? If you ask me for additional info, you may have to direct me on where to find it. That's a newbie for you. Thanks in advance.

When you say your home burner won't read any DVD, are you referring to 'any DVD' or just those burnt at the office?

I can't see the ones from the burner at work. I haven't tried to read the ones I burned before the problem started on the burner at home. I use to burn dvds just fine with the one at work. I think it may be the Sony DVD+RWs.

Another question....I read on this site that if it is a DVD+RW burner, it should also be able to burn on DVD+Rs. That is not the case. What am I doing wrong?

Well, in that case, you may want to try a couple of things first:
    1) Use something like Nero Info Tools to check your set up (e.g. burner functions, disc conditions)
    2) Burn something with your burner at home to see how things go. Use RWs to avoid getting coasters.
Please post again when you have the results.
