you need to convert the video from AVI to MPEG before you can create a VCD with Nero. TMPGenc is freeware, and is in most cases just as good as commercial products. check out the guide here:

    http://www.afterdawn.com/articles/archive/divx_with_subtitles_to_vcd.cfm

you can skip the parts about the subtitles in this case, unless you have an avi as well as the subtitle files (usually not when downloaded).

A lot of those files from Kazza are crap. Really Crap. I (just for a test mind you) tried downloading something called Spiderman, which purported to be the movie of the same name. After 472 days of download (OK maybe 471) all I got was a crap 5 minute longer screener of the opening credits to the film 'HEIST'

Sigh, this is what happens when everybody is able to share files, imagine what it is like if 93,207,852 people shared a bathroom, now imagine the same for your harddrive (YUKK!) That is what some of the stuff is like!

Obviously, it was not my intention to reproduce Spiderman, I was just doing a little research.

    Paul.

PS, the above is just rant of course, but follow VCDjunkie's advice and use the stuff from this site to create your VCD.

    :)

I don't want to link to their site, but you can figure out the url if you think about the obvious.. anyhow, good luck.

Drop kazaa + share a few gigs. Then download neo-modus Direct Connect. Almost every1 on it has dsl so download speeds are amazing.

one other thing about kazaa. The movies that may be genuine dont usually play unless you edit with virtualdub. Thats cause of their audio compression. Of coarse I was aiming that bit of info at ALCATRAZ not VCDjunkie or loaded cause i know you are pros. (just making sure i dont get my e-ass kicked)!

Obviously it did not take me 471 days to download the film. I have ISDN (for what its worth) although, most of my counterparts at Kazza seem to sill use 9600 baud modems (sigh)

Anyway, the point I was making (although, i never actually made it, cunning, eh?) Was to those new to P2P, that it is a good idea to preview movie or audio files before downloading the bulk of it.

    Good luck guys!

    Paul.

I have been wondering how you pre-view movies in kazaa. I though it was as easy as right clicking the (not finished) movie and clicking preview but it never plays.

    D'you know something i don't?

I find it is best to click on the theatre button, which gets you to the preview screen. Use the arrows to select the file (if downloading more than one) and press play. Music will play and videos should run, although it does not always work immediately, as the file may be in the middle of downloading a large segment. After 5 minutes of downloading it has always worked for me.

    Best of Luck

    Paul.
