Neon Light Question

i have a blue neon (cold cathode) light under my xbox Jewl and am wondering if i can solder the wires that come from the light directly to the inverter. because when i use the plug thats on the light and just plug it into the inverter it dosent get a good connections with the prongs and sometimes arcs between the prongs on the inverter and the connectors in the plug for the light. so i guss......is it ok to solder the wires to the prongs and insulate them with heatshrik or is there a possibility that it will arc between the prongs and or wires?
