Can't write and get 'Power Calibration Error 1106'. Drive worked in two over PC's, one with XP and one with 2000, it used to work in mine after I upgraded from ME to XP. Philips PCRW1208 - flashed latest firmware version 4 successfully. FIC AZ11EA motherboard - flashed latest bios VDC49 (was VDC48) successfully. ASPI files - downloaded and updated to latest version from Adaptec. Via 4in1 patch installed, this was more than likely already in windows XP. Easy CD creator 5 Platinum - downloaded latest updates for XP compliance. Nero - downloaded latest version 5.5.9.17. (after removing EZCD5) Checked DMA settings - appear to be ok. Disconnected spare hard drive and DVD-Rom in case it was a power problem. Tried different brands of CD-R. Using spare hard drive re-formatted and cleanly installed XP, this is the same XP that is being used on the PC that the device worked in, tried burning using XP software and after installing Nero 5.5.9.17. Have spoken to a computer store, the Nero error message (Power Calibration Error #1106) means there is a hardware problem, so if it's not the drive what is it? Have typed in the error message and code on search engines, it appears quite allot but nothing related to my issue! The only other thing left to try is another CDRW drive in my PC.
I have just tried a LiteOn drive and successfully written at 32x. There must be something in my system that doesn't like the Philips PCRW1208.
People, this is the way problems should be described. Unfortunately - I have no solution. It seems like a XP driver problem in your PC, if the drive is verified to be working in other PCs. I have sticked to Win2000, since it seems to have much less oddities than XP.
i have installed a TX Uranus (LiteOn OEM) 52x24x52. It works fine, and is far superiour to my other drive. It also came with Nero 5.5.9, none dl'd software!
I found my LiteON 52x burner works best with the supplied Nero and InCD [under the prehistoric Win98SE].
Try this: Switch your devices to PIO mode and perform a CD write with low speed. I also switched now to XPsp1. Unlike in original XP, with sp1 everything works ok.
I got the same problem and message. This is what it worked for me: I used cheap TDK cdr and switched to Verbatim and it worked perfectly. Probably you tried already different cdrs but if you did not it's worth a try
