    I have been using Nero 6.0 for a couple of years to burn data DVD's and back up using DVDshrink and various other tools. I had been a few months since i burned anything and I responded to MS Windows message updates that my service park one system would no longer be supported so I finally got with the majority and updated to service pack two. Apparently that messed up my Nero burning ROM because now when I try to burn DVD I get an error message that says...

    "Nero - Burning Rom has a known compatibility issue with this version of Windows. For an update that is compatible with this version of Windows, contact Ahead Software."

    Do I have to upgrade to Nero 7?
    will Nero 7 work with my other apps? [DVD shrink, DVD Decrypter, VOB BLanker, DVD santa, DVD Fab, etc.]

    Nero 6 should work fine with either sp1 or sp2.

    Note this message:

    Might as well start over, note your serials, uninstall and use Nero Clean Tools then reinstall.

    The Nero 6 version recommended here are:

    Package one:
    http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe

    Package two:

    You might also consider this patch if you encounter the problems it refers to (I've installed it).

    A nice, but unneeded, reg hack will show the exact burning speeds over the course of the burn.

    1. Start-> Run-> type Regedit

    2. Go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\Recorder"

    3. Go to Edit-> New -> DWORD Value

    4. Rename "New Value #1" to "ShowSingleRecorderSpeed"

    5. Click on it and select "Modify"

    6. Now set the value 0 to 1
