    I have been reading the problems with Nero 7.0 etc. for the last few days. I had upgraded to 6.6 the other day, and then ran into error problems with Shrink in trying to analize the movie. It was suggested that I go back to 6.0 with Shrink, which I did, and it works fine. Yesterday I backed up a Columbia/Sony movie with Shrink and Nero 6.0 to perfection.I was quite surprised. The real question I have is - is it worth to upgrade to 7.0 or higher and still use Shrink? Also, with Nero recode, I don't see Main Movie only listed when I bring the program up. What gives?

    I use the first revision of Nero 7 and have yet to update ( I think there have been 3 revisions) with no problems. Nero 6 is still an excellent program...if it ain't broke don't fix it.

    As locoeng said
    I'm still using 6 - it fits my needs just fine for now. Hopefully the next update to 6 will correct the shrink autoburn issue.
    In recode - you should have 5 options in the full version (with an oem package may be different) - the one to do main movie only is 'recode main movie to dvd'.

    I went up to 7 and bought it, then went back down to 6. My problem was that my internet started acting funny, I think it is that Scout program they put into it. I disabled it and it got better, but the program still had bugs. Soon as they fix it I will put it back, I spent the money so I might as well use it.

    Let me try to explain my situation, and thanks for the responses. I installed Nero 6 Ultra Edition; went to nero start smart; clicked on Nero Recode, and to the right got these three items:
    Copy entire DVD to DVD
    Remake a DVD
    Copy DVD to Nero Digital.
    There is no main movie section. How and why am I missing this - did something in the installation go wrong?

    Thanks Binkie7, but as I am a little confused, I didn't (I don't think) installed package 2; where would I find it, as you said below Ultra Edition Major Update? Is is on the disc I have or somewhere else? Sorry, for the dumbness.

    Ask & you shall receive:) You can update package 2 which has recode from nero's website:
    http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php
    The update is under the update for ultra edition. Click off the friggin yahoo toolbar option.

    Hello again. I did install package 2 for Nero as you suggested. And when I did my start smart for Nero is gone. It appears that for some reason package 2 eliminated the Start Smart. Do I need to reinstall Nero 6? Or What?

    @keyrom,
    I have seen this: It happens every time you Update Nero Burning Rom first then Vision Express. To solve this. Update Nero Vision Express First, Then Nero Burning Rom. In your case, I would uninstall ALL of Nero, Run Nero's "General Clean tool". Then Re-Install Nero 6 & Nero Vision express. Don't install INCD! Update it this way: Download the 2 Updates Package 1 & 2 (save to desktop) Install the Vision Express update First(package 2), then install the Nero Burning ROM last.(Package 1) You'll be fine.

    Was Start Smart gone from the desktop only, or from the Start Menue Nero folder as well?

    It was gone from both desktop and from the start menu Nero folder.

    Does anyone know where to get a download of Nero 6.0 as my 6.6.0.18 version is causing me all sorts of trouble trying to burn with Shrink?

    To get start smart back, I would reinstall the updates, package #1 and #2 and make sure the box is checked to put start smart on the desktop.

    @bryan28

    What kind of problems are you having? Are you not able to select your drives in DVD Shrink? If you have windowblinds or a similar skinning program try disabling it and your options should appear.

    This is what i posted earlier today looking for help, but not had a reply yet..

    Can anyone please help? Up until about a week ago i was able to burn DVD's ok until i upgraded my Nero. Everything works ok with shrink, then i put in a blank DVD to burn with Nero and i get the following failed burn log. I've unistalled Shrink, then reinstalled. I've used the cleanup tool to remove Nero and then reinstalled (even tried version 7 but read the forum and I see that doesn't work either!). If i use Nero 6.0, will that work? Don't know where to get the download of this from, can't find it anywhere? Wish i hadn't upgraded now!! Is it possible my firmware needs updated? Any help would be much appreciated, here is the log:

    Bryan28 - last week I wrote regarding the same problem as I upgraded to Nero 6.6 and had been unable to burn from Shrink, and was told that the new upgrades do not support/or work with Shrink. So I uninstalled 6.6 and reinstalled 6.0 and it is working great again. There is nothing wrong with using 6.0 Nero - very stable and gives great burns.
