My best bet would be to first update your burner's firmwre, as it is about 3 versions behind: http://www.btc.com.tw/drivers/zip/dvd_dual/IDE1016_A187&0056_MCU.EXE Also, I would get better media, like Verbatim or Maxell Made in Japan. Try first to update the firmware and then see how it works. Your Nero version is also old, you should cunsider updating: http://httpdl2.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe http://httpdl2.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe You have Roxio installed in your computer. Most of the time it conflicts with nero. I would unistall it using Roxio Zapper: http://www.microadvantage.net/downloads/zapper60.zip
Thanks for suggestions. I did everything you suggested, with exception of using microadvantage zapper on Roxio . Posted web site would not open and I could not find same otherwise. I used Windows uninstall to remove same. Purchased Maxwell DVD+R disks ( 8X) and tried to burn a very short movie of 1 clip ( 16 secs). Unfortunately, same result . At end of burn received message " Please insert an empty disc to write" and DVD burner drawer opened. When I put new disk in , burn aborted. I can not find out how to obtain a burn log , as it did not ask if I wanted to save a log and I can not locate same. I assume that this information would be helpful/neceesary . Any other suggestions would be helpful, as I have about 50 DVD coasters at this point. Thanks !
Even though you've removed Roxio via Window's add/remove programs function, Roxio still has bit and pieces embedded in your puters registry...you will need to clean it in order to get it all out. Here is another site: http://softpedia.com/progSearch
