I have been using Nero 6 Ultra Edition for over 1 year to backup my system. In December the program stopped working correctly. The backup will be almost complete with 3 disks, with only 4 files remaining. The program asks for a new disk, writes a blank folder to it, then asks for another disk after just a few seconds. The final 4 files never complete. I've gone as far as 10 disks before cancelling the backup. I have been in contact with Nero's tech support since December, but I am getting nowhere. I've reinstalled the software, updated the software, updated my burner's firmware, and sent numerous detailed logs and info tool files. I cannot seem to get help in resolving this issue. The only thing I can think of that changed on my system at the time the problem started was that I started downloading many photos from my camcorder onto my computer. Has anyone else had this problem with the backup, and if so, how did you resolve it?
Nero tech support sent me a link to a tool to uninstall the program. I'd be happy to post my logs. Is there a way to send an attachment, or should I just copy it? It's really long.
Yeah, Clean Tool... It's good to have it around but it's not a must... (IMO anyway) Just copy/paste that log here and we'll have a look at it... Go to "My computer" then click C:/ProgramFiles/Ahead/Nero/NeroHistory.log Just remember to edit out your serial number, it should start with 1A*****

Hi. This could mean you have corrupted files in there, and the reason for the burning to stop. The firmware database seems to be out at the moment, but for what i saw(google), it's old, but up-to-date.. Unknown media...

I would have no problem rolling back to an earlier version, but the problem started before I upgraded. Tech support suggested the upgrade to try to solve my problem. I can try to uninstall again, reinstall, and not upgrade. As far as the pictures and the camcorder, what do you mean by my HDD? I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Thank you andmerr and permiggs for trying to help me. I am very unhappy with Nero since I am still not able to use my backup. It was a waste of $70. I've contacted Nero a couple of more times, and they send me emails asking for my backup log file. (This is all they seem to do.) I refuse to pay $3 per minute to speak with someone since they have not been helpful to this point. Can either of you recommend a different, reliable backup program that I can purchase? I hate the thoughts of losing my pictures forever.
They didn't send me a tool. They just told me to change my backup log properties to "detailed", run it again, and forward the log back to them.
