I am a new user so please bear with me. I am using Nero 6 Ultra and I am curious. When using the recode feature, at what percentage do people notice a change in video quality? Most of my movies are about 60%. Is this good or should I remove extra's to get a higher percentage? I am viewing on a 25" TV so I don't see a difference but some day I will like a large screen or maybe plasma. Will my movies look bad or will they be ok? Thank you for any info.
A nother question poped up. I have seen in other messages that dvdinfopro is one program to test burnt discs. What are some other ways and which one is the best to test out your burned movies? I just go through the movie chapter by chapter and see if it locks up. I have been lucky but I missed some that would skip a little.
niners49 , Welcome to the forum. I usually do Movie Only as if I need the extras I'll pull the original out. I have a 40" HDTV and LOTR looked fine to me. I think the movie only was over 6gb. I also use Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden disk so that the media is not in question. If you really do not need the extras then remove them and any audio or subtitles you do not need. I use DVDinfoPro but you can use the scandisk in Nero Tools( Part of Nero Ultra)to achieve the same thing. I just recommend DVDinfoPro because the price is right( if you can take the adds). I hate to recommend to people a program you have to spend $$ on if there is an alternative that is cheaper.
hi 60% is okish but like mike i do main movie only too, you can spilt a disc into 2 for the extras / movie. and coming back to main movie only, i use avi2dvd with CCE as the encoder for good quailty (time it takes is a trade off) avi2dvd is a free app (CCE isnt!) but it does have 4 built in encoders that are good (i recomend HCenc out of them!)
