i just installed nero 6, after years of using adaptec easy cd creator. when i burn a data disc it works fine, but numerous attempts to burn an audio disc have ended in failure. nero completes the burning process with no errors, but when the disc ejects and i put it into a cd player, it will not read the disc. i put the disc back into the pc drive and it plays fine. is it something in my confiuration that is causing this? or another problem?
So you opened Nero 6 [Burning Rom] and poceeded to choose CD then Audio CD .... New!! Then drag n drop [or copy & paste] your selected mp3/wav etc ... Nero does it's bit & burn !! ??
the cd writer is a drive that i had from my old pc. it's an LG-8080D (or something like that, i'm working from memory). the disc will play fine on any drive on my pc, but wil not play in my car cd player or my home theater cd player. i was trying to copy a disc, so i used the disc copy function. i tried it with "on the fly" selected, and with it deselected. i tried it with DMA enabled and with it disabled. these changes had no effect. i should also mention that i just recently built this pc, and installed windows xp home (with service pack 1). prior to that i had an hp desktop with windows 98. when i built the pc i decided to change from adaptec to nero, based on numerous suggestions.
to tbg, once you've loaded your tracks and selected burn. did you remember to check the finalize cd box on the 'burn' option. This is similar to the 'close disc' option in ezcd.
yeah, i thought so anyway... well, i played around some more last night and here's what happened. instead of disc to disc copy, i ripped the tracks to my HD first and then tried to burn them back to a cd-r. before i tried to burn i did a simulation. it failed every time (i have the log if you think that will help) until i tried it with DAO instead of DAO/96. i had been using DAO/96 because the user manual said it was the best for audio burning. once i switched it to DAO, it worked. now i guess i need to try it with DAO on a disc to disc copy.
