Hi, When I attempt to burn Audio CD's using Nero the write process will fail near the end, usually once it's at least 85% finished. The problem originally occured when I installed Nero 7 Ultra, I tried to uninstall and reinstall Nero 6 but the problem still seems to be there. I have read a few other threads containing similar problems... but I was unable to find a solution. I'm unsure of how to update Firmware or where to locate updates. I have also tried to lower write speeds. Any help would be appreciated! BuNnYSiNn Welcome to aD! Okay here's what I can see from the log. Yep firmware needs to be updated - the latest is 1.0a. Here's a link with instructions: http://support.necsam.com/optical/downloads/flashfirmware/readme.asp?ID=4 All drives should be set to dma mode - here's a link to a guide: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/checking DMA.pdf wow!! that is really low!! Free up some ram - the next step should help some. Also make sure you are not multi tasking and shut down some processes. Uninstall incd and run the incd clean tool. Hi Again, Note: Determine if the NEC DVD/RW driver being updated is configured as a master or slave before proceeding. I determined that the driver is configured as a Master. I also checked my D drive and that is also configured as a Master. Not too sure how to proceed with number 3? 3. If the NEC DVD/RW is the master drive the slave drive must be disabled. 1. To disable the slave drive; go to the "Device Manager" under the "System" icon on the "Control Panel". 2. Expand the DVD/CD-ROM drives by clicking the "+". 3. Right click the slave IDE device on pull down menu and select "Disable". 4. Verify that a "red-x" displayed over the slave drive indicating that the drive is disabled before proceeding
Sorry one more thing.... It also later says to close ALL applications. Does this mean close all open programs I am using - or do I need to go into the Windows Task Manager and end all processes? Thanks Again
I have also read that the NEC firmware upgrades should not be used with external USB drives. My burner is an external drive.
Since you have an external drive and NEC advises not to 'use' the firmware upgrade I would contact their tech support. Before that though uninstall InCD and run the InCD clean tool. Clear up some memory. The min suggested ram for Nero 6 is 128 mb so 7 is prob at least that. Have you tried any other software to burn cd's?
