    I upgraded to Nero 7 Premium 7.0.1.4 successfully without any issues whatsoever. I did 4 tests of burning using Nero Burning Rom and Nero Express, they both burns flawless as great as usual. So far, so good and I'm pretty satisfy with it.

    Hey Alkohol, thank you for all your info and guides and explanations for this newbie. I should have stated furthur that I bought and installed Nero 7 and when I updated to 7.014 it showed up as Demo but the program is running and working fine. Nero told me there's a glitch on the updates that show it as a demo but it's the real thing.

    @ChrisC586

    You're welcome, glad I could help. I'm here to learn and help out other members (newbies) that is/are willing to listen and learn.

    I think I used to have that "demo" thing, but after I upgraded from 7.0.0.0 to 7.0.1.2 and for some reason, mine says Nero 7 Premium on Start, Program and inside Nero Product Center, but it says "Nero 7 Demo" on Add/Remove Programs still. Below is how mine looks like.

    Geez alk, you need to clean up that messy start menu!!!! :)

    First thing I do after installing, is just put the shortcuts directly into the Programs folder, and kill all the folders....leaves the menus lookin perdy...

    Thanks for the suggestion, but it's alright. It's there for a reason (especially for my wife and son because they needs to use it too).

    I have the retail version of Nero 7 Ultimate Edition (bought at Best Buy). I have tried several times to install the 7.0.1.4 update and EVERY single time it comes back with an error that says to uninstall the Nero 7 Demo version before installing the Nero 7.0.1.4 demo. What the heck??? I followed the correct links on Nero's website to download the correct file. I even registered my copy with them and downloaded the 7014 file from their "premium" download area and still have the same problems. I have gone so far as to completely uninstall Nero from scratch and manually remove any remaining pieces left behind (ie, directories and Registry entries). However, every time I try to update, it says to remove the demo version. Hello?? I paid $$$ for this from a store...it is no demo version. Anybody else have this problem, or have any suggestions?

    Make sure your Firewall and antivirus is shut off otherwise the download will be for naught and it won't delete the old files. Happy Holidays.

    All antivirus software was disabled before/during install (both the original install as well as the update). Windows firewall is deactivated on my pc, so that's not an issue either. I do have Roxio installed (Easy CD Creator 5), so I don't know if/how/why that would cause the Nero 7.0.1.4 update to think it is a demo.

    Once you've successfully downloaded the new Nero 7.0.1.4 setup file from Nero's website. Get/download "Nero's General Clean Tool" to run and completely wipe out any Nero's products, files, etc. from your system. Restart your computer, run "General Clean Tool" again to clean any left over. Again, restart your computer -- now have Windows do a search for "files & folder" on Nero, if there is anything found, delete it, but DON'T DELETE the new Nero 7.0.1.4 setup file. Now, run Nero 7.0.1.4 and install it, remember to put in your serial key once it asked for it.

    Good luck and I hope you'll have a successful install next time.

    After using Clean tool, d/l REGSEEKER which is a free tool and search the reg for Nero and Ahead. I found traces of BOTH of these after using clean tool. After I removed all traces of these I was able to load the new update 7.0.1.4 I didn't load ver 7 at all, but used the Serial to get the full version. Mine also says DEMO in the start menu, but it's the full version!

    Alkohol, I followed your steps and I was finally able to get the 7.0.1.4 version installed. How quirky is that, that you have to completely uninstall the previous version, just to load in an "update"??? Pretty shoddy software if you ask me. Anyways, during the install, I entered my own serial number to hopefully have a non-demo version actually installed. However, when I go into some of the programs, a lot of the menu items are grayed out. For example, I downloaded the updated help files and installed them. I was looking at one of them and they were describing how to burn a multisession CD (and they have screen shots). I follow their instructions, but when I select the CD option in Burning ROM, all of the radio buttons on the right side (one of which is the multisession option) are grayed out. So, this tells me that they have disabled a lot of the functionality. Uggghhh.
