I'm using Nero 7 Ultra edition-7.2.3.2b. Ok, so I open Nero Vision, and then on the right side I click "Add Video Files". I look and select the RMVB file. After I click open, and message comes up (error message) that says that "Unable to insert (the file). Remember, it's in RMVB. Also, after I clicked Add Video Files, on the bottom of the new dialog box, i have to change it from "All Supported Video Files" to "All Files" for it to show the RMVB files. This might be the answer to my question already, but I'm not sure. Maybe Nero just doesn't support it? ANY help would be appreciated. If possible, provide clear instructions for me (total newbie). THANKS!!!

    No problemo allanh :)
Keep us posted. This question on rmvb pops up here & there and it would be great to get some user input on what they used & how it turned out.

    Hey Binkie7!!! How are you?

I've converted and burnt some of my RMVB movies, and most of the time, it works great!!! Sometimes though, there are synch problems, even when I click the "Force audio/ Whole movie" option. I was wondering, what's causing this problem? (I know this is a new question, but I don't want to start a new thread because that would just be inconvient for us)

Also, I don't really understand all of the options in the advanced options part, so, if you know, can you help me with it? Thank you so much!!! ANY help would be appreciated. THANKS!!!!! :)

    Hey allanh
Good to hear you're getting them converted.

Now the audio if the source file plays fine - no audio issue there - than the problem probably lies w/ the program.

I've never used this program and it's been quite awhile since I did a rmvb file but if you post what the options are I'll do my bst or at least try and get you in the right direction.

    Hey!

OK, here are the options for "video"

    "frame rate"
    "bitrate type"
    "aspect ratio"

    For "Audio"

"Force audio synch" (I still don't get why the audio won't synch sometimes!!! Can you explain?)
"Output Sample Rate" either 44100 Hz or 48000 Hz
and finally, a weird one... "dvd author"

"active dvd author express (create dvd folders .VOB files and.IFO files for burning after conversion done)

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks alot!!!

Ok here's just a very basic on these (my limited knowledge :))
Frame rate - would be for like PAL or NTSC depening on what region you are in. NTSC is 29.97fps - I think PAL is 25 fps.

Aspect ratio - think in terems of widescreen (16:9)/full screen(4:3)

Bitrate would be the number of bits contained - the more there are the better the quality should be with a larger file size.
I'm kinda cluelss on what the bitrate type is in this option. Any ones you can pick?

For this "Force audio synch" well it shows you that audio sync problems can be common w/ these different file formats. (not just this program either)
Why have this option if it's not :) At least this program admits it :)

Output Sample Rate" either 44100 Hz or 48000 Hz - pick 48000 Hz if you haven't. May be off base here.

The last one that just creates a video_ts folder that you can burn w/ another programs.

Media are your using and burn speed may play into the audio sync bit - but this can be a common problem for downloads.

You might want to try converting to MPEG2 - playing them 1st to make sure okay then running those files thru Nero Vision make a dvd compliant video.
But I can't guarentee this will work at all or be worth your time.

You might also want to check out aD software section - see if there are any other programs for rmvb files:

    Keep us posted!

    Hi!

For the bitrate, I am given "variable bitrate" and "constant bitrate".

Also, what are the benefits of converting the RMVB file to an MPEG2 and then to make a DVD compliant video through Nero?

Anyways, it's just that audio sync problems are there (though less noticeable most of the time), but if there is anyway that I can get rid of it, it would nice.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP BINKIE 7!!!:)

    Hey allanh
Ok constant bitrate (again we're talking limited knowledge here)
would be a constant bitrate used throughout the encoding - quality might be off.
Variable bitrate would vary the bitrate to keep up the quality during encoding.

If these files have no audio sync problem when playing straight from the pc than it would probably be due to the program. Just guessing that converting to another format may handle it better w/ that program.
    May not.
Probably just easier to try another program on these files and see if if handles the audio bit better.

    Oh & No problem :)

    @cincyrob
You can check 'product center' - look in the bottom right hand corner for an icon w/ a blame in it to find the version # on the 1 installed.
We're geting a bit off topic here but hit me up in the media thread.

    Hi!

Ok, I think I got this problem all figured out, except that I just want to know if I can use this program to make it show the size of the converted file on the DVD, like in Nero Vision 4.

Example: I open Nero Startsmart, then click on "Make Your Own DVD Video" Then on the right of the new screen, I click on "add video files". I add an .avi, and it shows how much the file will take on the DVD. It even tells me when my settings and the file exceed the DVD'S capacity (4.38Gigs).

An example would be like when I make the picture quality very high using the video options, and the graph that tells me that the file exceeds the 4.38 gigs of the DVD.

For the program you recomended to me, it doesn't do that. If I set the picture quality very high (lets say the file now is 5 gigs) and I burn it, I now have 2 DVDS for 1 file, which is really annoying.

This is just if you know the answer. Other than that, I've figured out most of the program, and I thank you Binkie 7 for your help (Also, can you give me the area where I should post future forum threads about this software? This is just if I have more problems with it.) Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey allanh
I would think that if you left it at the default setting it may fit to a dvd5 with this program.
Increasing the video quality (bitrate) makes the file larger so if this one has a high quality option or a custom size try just the defaults instead.

Hmmm for more questions on this one you might want to try these at aD:

    As always no problem :)
    Have a good one!!

    Hey!

Ok, I think I have it under control now, thanks to you. And if I still do have some problems with this program, I'll just post my questions at aD's forum in the appropriate section, and hopefully, someone as experienced as you are will answer my mind boggling questions (to me anyways).

    Thanks ALOT Binkie 7!!!
