Hi, I have a problem with Nero Burning ROM (7.2.0.3) and I hope someone here can explain this to me. Hopefully this isn't too newbish but I am stumped. When making a DVD-Video with my new ASUS 16x DVD burner (DRW-1608P2S), I have had this seemingly intermittent problem where the IFOs end up failing the checksum when the burn is complete, and the playback halts the video while the audio continues temporarily on my COBY MP4/MP3 capable DVD player. Here's the description - I take DVD video of live music shows which include the VOB, IFO and BUP files, and which the verification has been triple checked (twice by torrent client, once by MD5 while on the HD). Then I open Nero (full program, not Express, etc.) and choose DVD-video for a new compilation. I drag the VOB, IFO and BUP files into the VIDEO_TS folder within the Nero compilation. Then I burn the DVD onto Sony 16x DVD+R media. Once the burn is complete, I run an MD5 which is in the root folder of the DVD (above VIDEO_TS) to check the data. Some discs have come out fine, and play without any trouble. Some discs have come out with IFO (and BUP) files which don't verify correctly, and as described don't play properly in the standalone. They will play normally in VLC off of the disc. I have even indicated Nero to verify the data after the burn, and the discs check out as far as Nero is concerned. I also tried burning the same compilation on some Philips 8x DVD+R with the same result, so it doesn't seem to be the media. From what I can tell, it seems that Nero is changing the IFOs for some reason. Again, they verify OK with Nero's check after burn, but the IFOs and BUPs fail the MD5 check and the VOBs do not change. Any advice on this problem? I am thinking about switching to another software, but I'd like to stick with Nero.
This is my standard response for anybody running 7.2.0.3 Nero API version: 7.2.0.3 and 7.2.0.3b These latest versions of Nero are full of bugs, I recommend you uninstall, run this clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then install 7.0.8.2 a more stable version from here http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845 OK can someone tell me why the links are appearing as they are, I have edited, hit save changes etc
Sorry about the links, they are NOT supposed to appear like they did you will have to go to Nero site and look for nero7, clean tool. Make sure you run it after you uninstall 7.2.0.3( theres a newer version out, but it appears to be giving problems as well)
@gwen i think there is an extra "space" or not a "space" in your link, ok, that's probably confusing and makes no sense... lemme try again, it appears that there are 2 "hyper-links" you are trying to post up, i think if you separate the two "links" then it will show up properly here...it looks like they are one right after the other, if you "space them out" and then link them...it should show up properly and if it doesn't work the first time around, the "edit" button and save changes should resolve that... ok, i don't know if that makes any sense, but i just can't seem to find the right words to express my thought properly...sorry... docTY
@kivory666, It's the same link I have always used, all I am doing is cutting and pasting from Word like I normally do, I have hit the save button several times but to no avail. [bold]I did a restart of my comp and it's now working[/bold]
hehe, yeah, i see it as functioning properly now too, weird...anyways, glad it's working for all to share now, hopefully the links will help resolve the issue of the original poster... cheers all docTY
OK, I ran the Nero Clean Tool, rebooted, and then tried the earlier Nero version (7.0.8.2). I had the same problem :/ I am going to try with CloneDVD now and hopefully that takes care of it. I just got this burner and I really hope it's not the problem. That would be an even bigger hassle than buggy software...
Post a Nero log of your failed burn, located here Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.tx
