recently bought and installed the nero 7 package. now when burning dvd's...especially when using xvid files the resulting dvd has a problem with the video progressing at an almost slow-motion rate while the audio streams along at normal speed. needless to say they aren't in sync. i've found that when i first convert the files using smart video convertor to mpeg files then i don't have this problem however it takes about 5 times longer to finish. messaged nero with this problem and then gave me this reply saying to uninstall and reinstall after using their cleaner program. well i did this and STILL have the problem and they don't reply to any of my subsequent messages. Today i realised that when i open the files on the computer with the nero showtime player i get the same result (audio/video drastically out of sync) but when i open them in any other player i don't have the problem...

    any way to fix this?

I never really use the Nero showtime player. Try VLC player, it's pretty good. When you are converting, try to use as little resource as possible.

I believe this is a common problem occurring when using any version of Nero7, after 7.0.8.2, which version are you using.

I'm having the same problem. But my Windows Media Player and my Real Player where doing the same thing. My nero is 7.2.3.2b ultra. I've searched all over the web and have had no luck. I downloaded a program from www.headbands.com/gspot/ and what it does is checks your computer to make sure you've got the proper codecs. I didn't have the Xvid, so i downloaded the klite mega codec pack. After installing that, my wmp, and realplay would both play them fine, but nero still gave me problems. I've uninstalled nero and reinstalled it after installing the codecs and still nothing... Don't know if any of that might help you, but i still need help figuring out this nero problem... cause nero won't burn these formats properly...

I have Nero-7.2.3.2b Well when converting i use no other resources. i shut all non-essentials down before startint the conversion process. that does no good. Guess i need to revert to Nero 6. You know it sucks when you spend your money on a program only to have it not work. the company offers you know way to call them. the 'tech support' always, no matter the message gives the same reply....ARgh! Anyway, if someone knows a fix for this let me know...

And using Nero Showtime isn't the point. I use VLC as well. Just thought to try Showtime since it is bundled with Nero 7 Premium and as i thought it too has the same problem.

No i realize that but nero as a whole isn't recognizing the codecs needed to play and burn these xvid files to disc with the sync errors.. there has to be a way to get the program to recognize the codecs....? I can't figure it out, and nero hasn't been able to help, send them an email, nothing search their site.. nothing??

My day of Nero insanity continues. well totally removed all of the nero 7.2....whatever premium. but trying to install the 7.0.8.2 with no luck. i open the application file the press run. it unpacks itself then gives me this message:

"Installation cannot creat necessary temporary files in folder 'C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\NeroDemo9598\Cab\Tmp'.
Please check if you hav write permission for this folder.

can someone help me with this one...?

Run the Nero clean tool and try again.

I am slowly coming to the conclusion that the audio sync problem is largely a codec problem specific to Nero. I recently tried burning an avi file for an hour-long TV show that I downloaded to my pc. One file, one pc, two burning programs--ulead movie factory 4 and Nero 7. Result: Ulead burned perfectly with no audio sync problem while the sound and video for Nero7 became unsynced shortly after the start.

Still, I do not want to ditch Nero permanently because I paid full price for the program while Ulead came free with my DVD burner. Nero has more features, if you can get it to work.

I'd really like to find a solution to this Nero audio sync problem.
