Is your Nero legit? Are you using IE8?

You'll need to get Nero 7 Clean Tool to completely wipe out and uninstall Nero from your computer, restart your system, then have CCleaner clean out the rest. Now try to reinstall Nero 7 back on.

NOTE: don't have Add/Remove to uninstall Nero 7, 8 or 9, always use it's correct "Clean Tool" to wipe them first, then have CCleaner do the rest. Once you've installed Nero into your system, its hidden files stayed inside your machine, so regardless of how many time you've uninstall and reinstall, it won't work - it's thinking it's "pirated". Unless you clean it with it's Clean Tool, then CCleaner to completely wipe 'em out and do it fresh again.

    alkohol,
    thanks for that,
no reason to belive its not legit,
yes, am using IE8,and now Chrome,
    prob appeared before installing Chrome,
does the use of IE8 cause this prob?
Googled "nero.exe has encounted a problem and needs to close"
    and found this-

    so will try to update,
do not like the idea of completly removing Nero each time this prob appears,
thinking of upgrading to Nero 8 or 9,
    which do you recomend?
will try what you advise, to keep me going,
cannot understand why it just affects Nero Burning ROM?

why has the link not worked?
    Oh well, the reply said-
"That was a known problem with first release of 7. Get the update from Nero."

    Will try that as well

You're welcome. I'm glad that took care of your problem. I know that looks like a long process, but I've been doing that steps whenever there's any new updates and I've never had any issues using Nero (Burning Rom, Express, Vision, Recode, etc.)

    yeah, thanks again Alkohol,
never thought you had to get rid of the whole lot & wipe clean,
used to downloading a small update and installing that on original on other progs,
noticed you use Nero 8, is it worth upgrading to 8 or 9?
    what do you think?

Nero 8 is not worth the upgrade, I really don't see any difference in the two except for 8 being a bloated resource hog, but this may work better with a Vista machine. Nero is a good burning suite, but has become too large to be stable, too many components. I've been using Nero since version 5.something and have settled on version 7.10.1.0 after battling the bugs in version 7.0.0.0
IMGBurn is a good free alternative to Nero Burning ROM for burning .ISO files and compiling them. www.imgburn.com. Prefer Nero for building music cds and MP3 disks. Nero is good for burning home videos to DVD disks, and I've used it to convert old VHS tapes onto DVD disks.
Alcohol is correct in that the Nero cleantool will remove and/or solve a lot of the Nero problems due to a faulty/corrupted installation of the program. It seems that sometimes when you install another program, it causes problems with Nero, or some registry cleaners corrupt the installation as well. Just removing the program via add/remove program function of windows does not remove all traces of Nero, and as mentioned before, it is the hidden artifacts that cause all of the problems.

I speak for myself, yes I'm using the latest of Nero 8 (8.3.6.0) and I don't have any issues when using (Nero Recode, Burning Rom, Express, ShowTime, Vision and Nero WaveEditor), these are what I used the most speaking of Nero.

Does it worth it? Honestly, that's hard to answer and it really comes to the individual and preferences. Nero Vision 5 can convert any of your ripped Blu-Ray movies into DVD-5 (DVD+R) or DVD-9(DVD+R DL) easily and you'll get awesome quality pictures and that's what I'm leaning after. I might put a guide here in the near future once the stuff that I needed is completed.

made me wonder about Nero 8, when some people call it "Just a resource Hog"
So, Nero 7 cannot handle Blu-ray Disks? correct?
(me being abit of a noob)
because it only has Nero Vision 4?
    Alkohol,
if you do write a guide, i would like to read it,
as Blu-ray seems to be the future.

    @barndoor

Yes... Nero Vision 5 can convert or encode/transcode any of your ripped Blu-Ray movies/files as AVCHD and burn into any DVD-5 (DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R) or DVD-9 (DVD+R DL) and you'll get high quality backups. Now speaking of "Nero Vision 4", I'm not quite sure, so I can't confirm, but I know that Nero 8 and 9 can do it if you've got an already ripped Blu-Ray files/movies on your hard drive. This is what I'm going after because Nero Vision 5 is capable of handling the job with high quality on DVD+R DL or DVD+R disc. Why DVD+R or DVD+R DL? Simply because BD disc are still cost too much.

I'm all up for changes and yes the future is here, it's all about digital (HD), I have a PS3 60Gig, a big 51" SONY HDTV (fully supported 1080i, 720p and 480p) and I sure love to watch all of my backups on High Definition. Nowadays, I don't use DVD Shrink any longer because all I want is quality. With that in mind, any of my DVD backups that needed 20% or more compressions needed, I'll use DVD-Rebuilder + CCE SP2 to encode and the results are beautiful on my big 51" TV. Anything from 1% - 16% compressions needed, I'll simply use "Nero Recode 3" (using Advanced Analysis + High Quality Mode + Assign Best Quality to Main Movie) and the result is awesome.

Yes, I'll surely put a guide here soon in the future once I get the stuff I wanted (a Blu-Ray DVD-ROM (drive)= to rip) and maybe another external/USB hard drive. As of now, I have 2 drives already, but that doesn't seems enough for Blu-Ray movies yet cause Blu-Ray movies are extremely huge (25Gig or more).

yes, i have an AVCHD option on that sub menu, 3rd of 3,
but no the Blu-ray or HD DVD options on the main menu.
