Which version of Nero do you have? If not the latest try that one - 7.10.1.0

Okay try updating to the the latest.
Try playing the avi's in Showtime 1st and check the quality. If bad there then Vision probably will be too.

sorry to butt in but this program is great ConvertXtoDVD it will take around and hour or shorter and it burns straight to a dvd and it converts.

That's what forums are for share the wealth of knowledge :)
Yeah I use ConvertX too - good program.

12 hours is a bit too long.
What are your system specs - like processor and ram is fine.
    How long does WinAVI take?

Doing any multitasking when using Vision?

Keeping up on the pc maintenance like disc defrag, disc cleanup, registry cleaner and virus scans?

You are on really shaky ground.
Nero is very resource intensive, especially for transcoding. That is why dual-core CPU's are popular, along with lots of ram, and HD free space.
    What version of Windows?
