    Hi Danny

I purchased the box version of 7 Ultra Edition and the Burning Rom section had problems.
I have since upgraded to the latest version and fixes have been applied.
If you have a legal registered copy I would recommend you upgrade to latest 7.0.1.4b

I had a problem with nero 7 with registration problems. Seems I registered the program and it took but only for nero burn. The other functions such as the lame ripper didnt take. I registered the lame program and it said that the serial number is already being used. Quick call to nero got me nothing took over 3 weeks to talk to a live person and I had to go through the press department to get tech support as its a pay service. Nero offers NO FREE TECH SUPPORT email is useless, customer service will only direct you to the pay service. Moral of the story was for me to uninstall everything with a program in Neros download directory called CLEAN this will unregister the .ini files and startup files registry everything then reinstall. This fixed the registration problem. I got this from the senior engineer at nero the guy who wrote the lame encoder (after alot of deamon dials and generally pissing all of the nero staff off). Use the nero clean program then reinstall also dont use the original disk you purchased, download the trial version of nero 7 off the website. Its the full blown ultra version with date timer with your serial number it will be 100% usable forever.

I'm currently using Nero 7 Premium (7.0.8.2) and it is awesome and it has been burning flawlessly for me, except their version 7.0.5.4, which has bugs for me. Other than that, everything is on fire and going smoothly.

    Best of lucks to all.

    Hi tekzilla
Nero 7.0.8.2 is the latest version. There is a problem with Nero7 in general, but if you want to get rid of all Nero files and registry entry, you have to go to there site and download "Clean Tool" and General Clean Tool 2000". Run them ad they will get rid of all the Nero files and registry entry. This procedure is also necessary if you are updating from any previous versions of Nero.

I too have had the same problem for more than 3 monts now, have tried all the clean tools downloadable from their site and even tried the update CD they sent me - the problem is not with the registry from what I can tell but with the dreadful install process.

Surprise, Surprise - I emailed their tech support and told them the nature of the error and they only came back with the same clean and install suggestion.

The product don't intstall and support from Nero is nothing short of appaling. In addition they refuse to give a refund. How's that for customer relations?

Noone it seems, not even here, has suggested a way of overcoming the Tmp folder issue

tekzilla - I'm with you all the way on this one. Am looking for anyone currently putting together a law suiy against Nero for Damages under International Law (Unmerchantable Quality).

What comes as the biggest insult of all is that when Nero actually do acknowledge your email by way of reply the address you as:

"Dear Valued Customer" - now that's rich indeed!

yep that is the same error window that I get that says the same thing, I have not purchased it yet though, I was wanting to see if I liked it and then maybe buy it, but I get that error, and can't install sucks ha, anyway I think that if you have a legal copy that you bought, and they will not help you resolve prob, then tell them that you will be filing a complaint with the better business bureau ( www.bbb.com ) that will usually get results. anyway with everybody having so many probs with it, then it is not worth the trouble to buy it because I certainly don't need the hassle and don't have money to throw away.

I am having a slight problem with nero 7 ultra. when I try the "copy cd" or " copy dvd" I get an error message--Nero has experienced a problem and needs to close. I have written to the nero web site for help and sent the info they requested but they havent replied-about 2 months ago-- I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. All other functions seem to work fine. any ideas?????

Check if you're using WinXP that the Temp Folder in Locals is uncompressed. Nero really naffed this one up by assumung theat everyone on the planet that uses their product has uncompressed drives.

    Solution here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/320752

After 3 months of utter misery it installed like a charm!

The part I hate is I can download nero 7 from any pirate site for free but I actually purchased it (although it was free with rebates) but still took the time to fill out and wait for rebates when I can download it in minutes. Why do we the people buy software anymore? Crappy software with bugs and no tech support. If I want no tech support I can get that with a pirate version. Whats my incentive to purchase the software? I like how you buy mcafee anti virus software and its only good for 1 year and its full of spyware and malware. No joke do a ctrl+alt+delete and look at the mcafee programs sucking up to 25% of your bandwith. I wrote mcafee and asked them what is their program doing all the time? They didnt respond. I solved my installation error by getting a crack off a website to install the lame encoder that I purchased but never received from nero. I know we arnt suppost to take about piracy here but its getting pretty bad out there with legit software and all the problems.

Did you all hear about france trying to make apple make their Ipod able to use non-encrypted mp3's? Wow what a concept for all those cows and brain dead people who bought the Ipod to begin with they deserve what they got. Is the Ipod truely an Mp3 player? Or just a hugely expensive conduit for Itunes?

@megabyte2 - as i can see the point you're making and you're not actually promoting Piracy there i'll let it slide. However let's leave the 'pirate' stuff be now...

hello all, well I emailed Nero about my install error and I have not received any help, well not from them anyway, which sucks, you know I thought they wanted to make money, Hmm I guess not, anyway I read the reply from ( umagumma ), and I uncompressed my drive, and it installed, not sure really how the programs work yet, but I do know that when I open up Nero home and try to check things out everything freezes up, so if you get the Tmp folder error, just uncompress drive, when you get it installed, then compress again if you want
So thanks everyone for your help. man all this crappy software out there makes me want to be a programmer, OK well bye
