Okay I purchased nero 7. Everything works fine. Downloaded the update (which is a full demo). Uninstalled Nero 7 and used the cleanup tools. Re-installed the latest updated version. During the install the serial stayed in the box. After install it prompt that it is a demo. Inputed my serial but got error say that serial is already registered in my system and to try another one. What does that mean and more importantly how do I fix it?

Restart everything over: have Nero 7 clean tool to completely wipte out Nero from your system, restart your system, run CCleaner (2 - 3 times) to clean out left over junks. Now reinstall Nero 7 back on your computer, upon the "demo trial", put in your legit Nero serial and the rest should be good.

Worst case scenario, contact Nero support if the issu persist.

Have you tried using product setup and enter the license in there? Perhaps after you add your new one, and change over, it will allow you to remove the old one.

Clean the Registry to remove all Nero-related entries. I use Registry First Aid to do this, I have never had a problem.

I tried all the cleanup tools but I still get this message.

" The serial number you have entered is already stored on your system. You cannot enter the same serial number twice."

Well, I don't know if you tried my suggestion or not, but is the serial number remaining in the box the purchased license serial number? Are you getting nag screens every time you start a piece of software about purchasing it?

Where did you get your original (purchased) serial number?

If all else fails and you want to change it, the registry hack will probably work.

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\ahead\Installation\Families\Nero 7\Info

If you feel comfortable changing the number, you might try here, but be warned you might mess up your system!

I purchased it a CompUSA retail box. And I am using the serial that came in the box. I was told in order to update or upgrade to the enhanced version just download the updated and install. My original serial should work fine.

The serial number should work. Sometimes it looks like a demo version, but it isn't. If you get nag screens all the time, it is still a demo version, if not forget what it says and be happy! Nero Product Setup also gives an expiration date. If it says None, you are fine.

I have installed several updates where I did not have to add the serial number since it was already there.

But again, start something, like NeroVision 4 and if you don't get a nag window, it has been registered. If you do get the nag screen, double check the number in product setup and make sure you don't have them reversed. Sometimes the numbers are very similar. Nero 6 serial numbers will not work for Nero 7, just in case.
