I just tried upgrading my nero 7 essentials and it told me it had to uninstall nero from my comp before it could re-install the upgrade. well, it uninstalled but then it never reinstalled. now i have no nero at all on my comp. if i reinstall it using my nero disc then it does the same thing when i try to upgrade again. any suggestions?
I also had the same thing happen to me. When I reinstalled the program and then tried to upgrade again...couldn't get it to do that. It would go part of the way and then shut down. I would restart it and it would go for a little and then shut down again. I hope some one can tell us just how to upgrade this program because I bought a license to be able to burn to dvd and it said when I entered the license number that I had to upgrade...but can't seem to upgrade. Getting frustrated here!!
Try running the Nero clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then try for fresh install.
I tried that several times. Tried fresh install and it wouldn't let me upgrade and then uninstalled..clean reinstall and tried to upgrade. But to no avail yet!!!!!!!!!! Help us please!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't know what is going on...How do you upgrade this one? Others in the past you just had to download then you could install..but this one is totally different have to do it from online..Somehow. Shrugging shoulders here and scratching head.
If you are using Essentials then I doubt that you can Update it as it's an OEM version ( I am not certain though)...in Nero StartSmart, click on the FLAME on bottom right and locate version number and report back with it.
Mine says it is 7.5.13.1 When I went to the nero site and purchased the DVD-Multichannel plugin (the third one down from the top) Also when I purchased the plugin it said it was suppose to work for mine. I tried putting in the license number where they say to put it in at and then went tried to go to nero express it said that I needed to update my version as it had some things in it that I didn't have. So that is when I tried to update and my nero even said I had updates available but I couldn't get it to do that! I appreciate any help you can give.
Oops, yes it is an oem version. The plugin I bought said it was suppose to work on mine and the last part of the license says ocem as part of the license. Do I leave that off when I put it in?
I shall try that. But don't understand how come the silly thing says that I have updates but doesn't let me do that. Just like the other person had trouble so did I and then after it uninstalling itself once it then wouldn't update like I had said previously..it would start then shut itself down before finishing. Oh well, hope I can get this plugin to work after paying quite a bit for it.
my question is: "if it is an oem version (btw: what does oem stand for?), then why does a window pop up when I am opening the program and tell me 'there is an update availabe, would I like to update?'?" the same window pops up every time I open up any of the nero 7 essentials programs.
It's a sales pitch, they want you to upgrade to the "FULL" version so they can make some $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$..most burners are sold with an OEM version. OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. An OEM is a company that buys hardware in bulk
Thank you for your info. Is it a good investment to upgrade to the full version? And - have you heard of ULead Video Studio 9? A friend of mine has it....just wondering.
Yes, when I bought my dvd/cd burner just about 3 weeks ago this program (the oem version) came with it. So how does one go about getting the full version and where?
