Major problems with Nero 7 Premium. OK so I established that Nero 7 Premium version 7.0.5.4 is full of bugs, none of the programmes would work they stopped working as soon as loaded and froze up, only Control-Alt-Delete would free up my screen. I then downloaded the clean up tool from http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and removed Nero from my system, I then rebooted into safe mode, repeated the process then used System Mechanic 6 professional and Norton to check all files and folders had been removed. All cleaned I then rebooted into normal operating system, rechecked all Nero files had been removed and all was OK. I then deactivated all Norton Antivirus and Firewall software, deactivated Ad-Aware SE Personal and Spybot and then visited http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845 and downloaded Nero 7 version 7.0.8.2 following all installation instructions. I rebooted my pc, ran Nero and :-( yet again Nero stopps working as soon as I attempt to run any of it's programmes. I checked Nero7>Nero7>core>Nerohistory.tx but this file was not showing up in the files. I run on XP Media Centre Edition with Service Pack 1, I checked DirectX and my system has DirectX 9 installed, just cant fathom out why Nero just refuses to work no matter what I try. Any ideas how to resolve this problem?
Hello. Do you have any other software like Roxio or Sonic installed. The drivers from other burning programs can conflict. You might try running the Nero Driver Clean Tool and Registry Checker. http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Driver_CleanTool_and_RegistryChecker.html If Nero doesn't load and execute, there won't yet be a NeroHistory log file created. If the Driver Clean Tool fails to provide relief. Uninstall Nero 7 with the Nero 7 Clean Tool again and then try installing Nero 6.6.0.18. See if that works. Pack 1: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe Pack 2: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe Before installing 6.6.0.18, let's see if we can get the burner to work with other software. Try burning an ISO file with DVD Decrypter. If you have previously backed up DVD5, set the mode in Decrypter to ISO Read and rip the disk to your HDD. Then set the mode to ISO Write and burn that ISO you ripped back to a blank DVD. You might want to use a RW blank for experimentation and to avoid making coasters. If that works, you know the burner is working correctly and there's something making Nero hinky. DVD Decrypter: http://www.filehippo.com/download_dvd_decrypter/
Hello Thanks for your assistance. I,m still having problems, I did a search of my pc and found Sonic CD (DVD) Recorder which I throughly removed from my pc. I then downloaded the CleanTool and Registrycheck tools and ran both, I was then asked to reboot my pc which I did and the Registrycheck reported an error which it had corrected but it didn't show me a report of the error. I then rebooted my pc and ran Nero 7. Nero froze yet again, I was trying to create a VCD and as soon as I attempt to search and install JPEG files Nero froze up. I then tried to run several other nero programmes and nero completely and immediately froze up. I then removed Nero 7 following the same clean up process as before and followed your link to download Nero 6.6.0.18. The download completed successfully and took me through to the installation screen, I entered my details then my Serial Number from my Nero 7 retail CD but thats as far as the installation would let me go, the button on the installation screen marked "Install or Next" cant remember the precise wording now, would not work so I could not complete the installation of 6.6.0.18. I'm removing version 6.6.0.18 and will try to install version 7.0.8.2 again and see if this will work. I Havent got to the burn test yet but I am assuming the burner is working OK as I was able to copy a DVD yesterday directly from disc to disc. I have a Philips DVDR 1648P1 drive and a IDE-DVD ROM 16x drive which have been tested and show to be working correctly. Hmm this is a very strange situation.
Grrrrrrrrrr!! Here we go again. Just completed comprehensive clean up of my pc, using Nero's clean up tool to ensure I had throughly removed all previous Nero installations, I ensured my Norton Antivirus is up to date and ran a complete system scan which reported a clean system, I also ran Spybot plus Ad-Aware SE and they both reported no problems, finally I ran the Nero check tools and all was fine. After rebooting I deactivated all of my pc security tools and made a fresh installation of Nero 7.0.8.2 completing a successful download, I then rebooted, completed the Nero installation registering the serial number that came with my Nero 7.0.5.4 retail product CD into the downloaded 7.0.8.2 version and completed a successful installation. I rebooted once more then attempted again to make a CD Slide Show (not VCD as I last stated which was an error on my part) using Nero, the program appeared ok on my screen I clicked on Browse for Media icon then selected Browse and Add to Project and opened the files I wished to add, the first two JPEG files loaded into the program then Nero froze up again, only Control-Alt-Delete would free up my screen. I then went to other Nero programmes to see whats happening and likewise they instantly freeze up. I am now confident that I have no other programmes such as Roxio or Sonic on my system, I downloaded the most recent Directx 9.0c, and I can copy directly from drive to drive, there were no other burning drivers detected when I ran a search. Version 6.6.0.18 would not even allow me to complete the installation process even with a clean Nero free system, I tried twice to download and install it only to receive the same problems. Ho Hummmm!!! What next?
Hello again. I know this has to be really frustrating for you. The fact that all the Nero programs are freezing is confounding. Do any of the Nero programs work after restarting your system or are they still freezing up? I'm wondering if one of the files you're importing is corrupted or something and causing Nero to choke up and die. You should have been able to install and run Nero 6.6.0.18 in trial mode without a serial number. It's good for 30 days that way or should have been.
Hi Again Laddyboy Frustrating is an understatement thats for sure but I sure appreciate your help, I have only just discovered Afterdawn.com what an excellent site it is. Ok back to the dreaded Nero, Sadly nothing seems to work long enough to be able to carry out any tasks, so far all I have been able to do is load a few JPEG pictures into the program for creating a Slide Show CD and Wallop!! Nero totally freezes up and when I clear my screen using Control-Alt-Delete a box then appears telling me this program has stoped responding. Then it's end of play as is is with any Nero programmes, I e-mailed Nero but they cant be bothered to respond. I think I have restarted my pc these last two days more times than Monika Lewenski gave Bill Clinton a Blow Job, Bill said that wasn't sex but that didn't work either Maybe I should take up knitting !! Seriously though this is causing me a major problem, I'm trying to catalogue my companies new DVD titles to a CD slide show to send to some retailers for consideration of stocking our products, I cant proceed with the business with this problem creating so many delays. Grrrrrrrrrrr Nero !! Have greatly appreciated your help and advice.
Go to the nero website and download all the clean tools for version 6 and 7 and the general clean tool. Uninstall nero, run all the clean tools. Reboot your computer. Then install from hippo again version 7.0.8.2 and enter your cd key. If this doesn't work then there is something wrong with your computer. Update all your drives. If worse comes to worse then reformat.
Hello again. There's something definitely conflicting somewhere. Is this a new computer you're using? Here are links to all the Nero Clean Tools again. http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/us/Nero_6_CleanTool.html http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/us/General_CleanTool.html As DegenX says above: run them all. Do not install Nero InCD ever. It can cause problems. Try installing Nero 6.6.0.18 as a trial and see if that'll work. Here's a filehippo link to the trial version of 6.6.0.18. http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_burning_rom/?539 I think it includes everything in the suite but if it doesn't, the rest should be in this link: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe If this blows up, there's something wrong with your system. It's also possible that after trying to install 6.6.0.18, if you didn't run the N6 Clean Tool, there N6 stuff conflicting with the N7 stuff you installed. In the end you may have to save your data, reformat your drive, and reinstall the OS to overcome the problem, assuming you don't have faulty hardware causing the problem.
Glenn...you said the continue or next button was grayed out when installing v6.6.0.18 at the serial number screen...I know this sounds crazy but if I recall correctly you HAVE to put something in the company or business field on that screen. I don't think that's the case with v7.x... Hope this helps
Thanks people I,ll try this later today, I did put something in the company name, still wouldn't proceed to the next stage of installation, the button was greyed out, clicking on it did nothing. Fingers crossed xxxxxxxxxx
Hi Laddyboy and people, Well I have taken all your advice appreciative of all you have done to help me but alas still no joy. I downloaded all of Nero clean tools and ran them all. I then checked all the folders and files, Nero had vanished no trace left. I then ran System Mechanic 6 professional which is an excellent piece of software I would recommend to anyone, clearing all junk files, optimising the regsitry files, checking and clearing broken short cuts, I ran every utility clean up and detect tool including erase deleted files program, optimize and repair tool it offers. I then repeated the process with Norton, rebooted into safe mode and repeated the process all reported as clear and in fit health. Back into normal operating mode I ran final checks and all was fine, I then set Norton to create a virtual back up of my system and rebooted. On to Nero I then downloaded Nero 6.6.0.18 but agin when I went to install it I came up against the same problem, after inserting my name, a company name and trying to click on NEXT it was greyed out and would not proceed any further, I then tried again this time inserting my Serial number key from my retail version, again it would not let me proceed as the next button was greyed out. I then downloaded NVE-3.1.0.12 from the links Laddyboy kindly gave me but I hit the same problem trying to install. The Next button was greyed out and prevented me from completing installation. I will point out that I had deactivated all antivirus and firewall software, I even went back to check Windows had not activated it's own built in firewall, all was OK. My system is just over 2 years old, Not cheap it was a top of the range HP Media Centre operating on WindowsXP Media Centre Edition with Service Pack 1 installed, which I also regulalrly update. I also updated all of my drivers and ran windows to check if there were any program conflicts, it came back as all ok. I can get Nero version 7.0.8.2 to install without any problems it just hangs and freezes up every time I try to run any programmes. My hard drive was formatted only 2 months ago when I installed a larger 180 gig drive, have had no operating or software problems since installing, only with Nero. I also increased my ram memory which now has 2.5 gigs. Will a sledge hammer fix the problem? You all have a nice weekend. Glenn
You could try as a last resort selecting a restore point back a month or so ago and see if that will help. I'm just wondering if there's something in the media center software that's causing the conflict. Something in the OS and/or drivers has to be buggered. If you have the time and inclination, reformat your drive and start over. It's radical, but sometimes that's the only thing that works in the end. This kind of thing should never happen, yet it does.
Have you gone into the Admin tools and checked the event viewer for problems? That might lead to a solution. I don't suppose there are any access rights for the computer that might be causing problems? I haven't noticed anything special about Media Center, but there haven't been many posts using it.
hi gang im having problems with nero 7 soundtrax.it crashes and when i play music with it the sound skips.i have nero 6 installed in my computer and it works great.
Hi People, Well finally I have managed to get Nero version 7.0.8.2 to install and create my picture slide show vcd, it still frequently stalls and hangs so I had to save each JPEG as I loaded it into Create Photo Slide show CD program, so something is still not quite right here, I also managed to burn to CD which proves my burner is ok. My event log reported back the following. Category (101) Error Event ID: 1002 Description. Hanging application NeroVision.exe, Version 4.1.0.15, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000 For more information, see help and support centre at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp Visiting the link to Microsoft Help and Support Centre wasn't that much help I got the following. Product: Windows Operating System Event ID: 1002 Source: Application Hang Version: 5.2 Symbolic Name: ER_HANG_LOG Message: Hanging application %1, version %2, hang module %3, version %4, hang address Ox%5. Explanation:The program stopped responding. The message contains details on which program and module stopped responding. A matching event with EventID 1001 might also appear in the event log. This matching event displays information about the specific error that occurred. User Action No user action is required. Currently there are no Microsoft Knowledge Base articles available for this specific error or event message. For further information about other support options you can use find answers online, see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx. I visited this link but could't find anything that was of any use in resolving the problems with Nero who have also still failed to respond to my e-mail. The program loads ok, I can click on Make Photo Slide Show (VCD) and the program launches, I click on the Brows for Media Icon select Brows and Add Project and this is the point where Nero generally freezes and hangs. Sometimes it will allow me to load a few photo JPegs before crashing, other times it instantly hangs.
OK, this is a long shot, but it might lead you to another area. There have been occasions where something like Real Player or something similiar has caused problems. In one case, there were sharing violations which caused problems for the Nero software. check the following directory for this file- nxmyreal.dll C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins If you had it to start, it was probably removed during one of you clean operations, but if you use Real Player or something like that, let us know. Also, you should now have a log file to post--look in the Core directory for the NeroHistory file. It should have a .log or .txt extension. Post that and take out your serial numbers (may be several). As far as the event log, it just verifies what you already knew. I was hoping for something different.
Hi Saltgrass again thanks for your assistance it,s really kind of you. Upon my opening C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins it did not show nxmyreal.dll as being listed and Real Player is not listed as being on my pc. Having just opened Crive> program files> Nero> Nero 7> Core, there still is no NeroHistory file listed, I checked all other nero files and could not find any History file, very strange given that I have managed to open Nero and create a Photo Slide Show (VCD) What I have JUST found on my pc but have never used is Intervideo WinDVD Creator and Intervideo WinDVD Player, plus Windows Movie Maker. I also have Windows Media Player and Quick Time installed, when I ran Nero program compatability checks over the weekend none of the above came up in any report. What would you suggest I do with the above programs and do you think it could be one of these that is causing problems with Nero?
Hello again. The only one that might have the ability to create a problem would be Intervideo WinDVD Creator. Almost everyone has the others loaded on their systems. You could try uninstalling that one. I assume it came preinstalled and the only way to reinstall it is off the recovery disks that came with the system.
Hi Laddyboy Thanks for this I'll give it a try and see what happens, your correct the programmes came pre installed with my system, the system files are stored on Drive D which is the back up and recovery program, my system didn't actually come with any CD or DVD but allowed for creating one shadow copy DVD or one set of back up CDs. Well i'll get back to you when I have uninstalled WinDVD Creator, and hopefully with some good news, fingers crossed!!
