Your Nero is out of date, current is 7.0.1.2 I think, I wouldn't know, I don't have Nero 7. BUt I know for sure your's is out of date.

Your DMA is off, here is how you can fix it:

    http://www.burstcopy.com/dma/xp/

If you are using a Dual Layer then why are you using Shrink, it shouldn't need any compression.

This should be a 3line paragraph, I couldn't find your drive's firmware but try to find it yourself and update. Media recognition can usually be fixed by a f/w update. WHat media are you using by the way?

this is Nero's INCD packet writing software, it sucks. Get rid of it by downloading Nero's cleantool to completly rid your system of Nero, then reinstall this time choosing to not install INCD.

On a slightly unNero log related note:

Nero isn't very well suited to burn DLs so try DVDDecrypter.

Glue Eater, thanks for your help.. I had heard about the whole DVD Shrink/ DVD Decrypter combo... Do you think I would just be better off using DVD Decrypter and what process would I use in there??

    @ BigEisy,
Please edit your original post and take out your serial number, lots of people are looking for those now to avoid paying for the update...
the 4th line that begins with 1c82.
Otherwise it'll end up on a hack or serial sire somewhere in the Ukraine...

    Big fat boy,

After looking at the list.. That is actually not the device I have.. That shows an internal drive and mine is external... The device name on the box I have is SONY DVD RW DRX-810UL... Why would my device show up on my computer that way even though it isn't?

Try uninstalling the drive then reinstalling the drive, you didn't update with the wrong firmware version did you perchance? I almost did that once with my old DRU-510a drive.

No I haven't installed any new firmware.. This is the weirdest thing.. Why would it show up on my computer and during backup as a different burner than I actually have?

Sounds like you may not have installed it right. If I remember right for that drive you should have installed the software and drivers from the disk that came with it before you hook it up to the computer.

Try to uninstall it. Then unhook it from the comp and restart comp. Then install from the disk. Then hook it up to the comp and see what that does for you.

Whompus, the only software that came with the burner itself was Nero 6 on a CD entitled "SoftwareDisc".. That is the only disc in the box.. I basically plugged it in and figured that was the way to go, as has been the way on most other drives... Is that normal??

Ahh maybe I am thinking of another sony drive. It is a friends. It had record now and stuf on the software disk.

You can get a drive check utility for sony drives from the link above to check the drive.

I currently own the 800A which is a close relative of your drive and Windows XP picked it up right away, burned flawlessly with Nero 6.0, had a problem with 7.0 until I uninstalled it then reinstalled it. I'm at a loss to explain this, but one of the old timers here might be able to help you.
