I read around the forum, updated my drivers, ect. For some reason it keeps giving me the error so can anyone see if there is anything specifically wrong with this?

I know the DVDs are good, we can burn movies through our DVD-R machine.

Anything SCSI related is just my virtual drive.

    Hi DarkSnake
Your biggest problem may just be the media. Even though your firmware is up to date it hasn't been updated since in over 2 years so the 16x media you are using may be hit or miss.
More than likely the reason for the illegal disc and why Nero only gives you a burn speed of 2.4x then drops it down to 1x. The media isn't fully recognized by the drive.
For this drive I would stick w/ 8x media.

    File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS'
Roxio and Nero don't always play well together. You can uninstall Roxio and run the zap tool to completely remove it.
    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml

    Nero Version: 7.0.0.0
Nero can use an update - the latest is 7.5.7.0.

Just doing a test burn? Last address to be written: 3903 ( 0:52.03, 7MB) & Simulation failed at 1x

Yeah, I had a few fail, so I was running simulations to try to avoid wasting a ton of disks.

It's odd Roxio stuff was installed, as I have never had it installed on this box but I'll give it a try anyway.

Well, so far I've managed to get the 1x thing to apparently stop, but I'm just going to try to run a full reinstall of Nero with the cleaner once I get home.

Nothing yet, I'm going to try something else just as a test, but it may just be the disks. Never had a problem with them before, but who knows.

Here' another burn program to try (free) and is good - ImgBurn.
You can use the build mode for files that aren't an iso.
If this one fails too then def. pointing to the discs.

The ones you used before were they rated 16x speed also? 8x max drives with older firmware don't always do well w/ 16x media.

Give that a go and let us know.
