Working on the last log, you have Nero 7.0.8.2 installed over Nero7.0.0.0.
The first version of Nero (7.0.0.0 ) was "buggy" so it has to be removed prior to installing 7.0.8.2...uninstall Nero, run the clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html to remove all remnants of Nero7.

Dealing with the first log, you have installed a "buggy" version (7.2.3.2) over another "buggy" version (7.0.5.6) so once again the correct procedure is to uninstall Nero, run the clean tool and then install 7.0.8.2 the latest stable version from here

    http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845

I know it sounds a hassle but if you do not remove the "buggy" versions completely you will experience problems.

I just purchased Nero 7 Ultra Edition but can not find the version number anywhere on the installation disks or documentation. Do I have to install this program to find out what version I have just purchased? And what do I do if I find out that it is one of the later "buggy" versions? Need advise before I break the seal on this software.

    gwendolin,
thanks. I had been using the clean tool, but failed to completely follow all of its directions, such aas manually deleting the old version of NeroVision and other files. Duh!
I did that, did a clean install of 7.08, and right now I'm burning.
    I appreciate it.

Sometimes Nero is hard to get rid of completely, glad you've now got it working, happy burning.

    @Trilight

Do not install your version, its buggy. Visit here http://www.filehippo.com/ and click on nero burning rom 7.2.3.2b. On the next page select 7.0.8.2 which is known to be bug free. Just enter your cdkey from the one you bought. Even though its a demo from hippo you will have it for good because of your key. If you had any previous versions of nero, go to their website and download the clean tools for version 6 and 7. Uninstall any nero that you currently have and run these clean tools to remove all traces of nero.

Your version may NOT be a "buggy" one but DO download 7.0.8.2 from here

    http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845

it will ask for a serial number, just insert the one that came with your Nero.

If you recieve a message saying its a Demo then heres what Nero says about that.

Heres a link for clean tools

    Nero7 Clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html

    Nero6 Clean Tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html

    Nero 7 premium it sucks!!

I run on Windows XP Media Centre Edition with Service Pack 1 installed (service pack 11 caused so many problems I had to do a clean reinstallation)and block service pack 11 from downloading.

At the advice of my local PC World I bought Nero 7 Premium, version 7,0,5,4. I made sure both my Norton anti virus and firewall software was deactivated prior to installation and nero appeared to install on my pc without any difficulties. Bummer!! as soon as I ran any Nero program they all froze and stopped responding, only Control-Alt-Delete could clear my screen. I then found afterdawn.com and followed instructions for downloading Nero clean tool, I ran it with my pc in normal operation mode, I then rebooted into safe mode, ran the clean tool again and ran a system check which confirmed all Nero files and folders had been removed. I rebooted into normal mode, ran one last check to ensure all nero files and folders had been removed, so far so good.

I then went back to afterdawn and followed the link and instructions from this thread to download Nero version 7,0,8,2, again I deactivated Norton anti virus and firewall software, downloaded nero 7,0.8,2 and the download completed successfully, I installed version 7,0,8,2 typing in my serial number from the Nero 7 Premium CD Case and installation completed. I rebooted and was looking forward to a hassle free Nero WRONG!!

Version 7,0,8,2 is no more reliable than version 7,0,5,4 as soon as I tried to use the new installation the same problems occur, Nero stops responding, It wont even let me complete browsing and loading an image or file before it stops responding and freezes up, again I have to resort to Control-Alt-Delete to clear my screen.

Nero!! maybe they should rebrand their product Zero, trying to contact them for any assistance is a complete waste of time, why release products into the market place which clearly do not do as described on the box? !!

Anyone have any advice on this problem?

    @glenn_uk1,
Firstly it's not a good practise to hijack someones thread, you should start one of your own. Yes Nero does put out some "crappy" versions that are "buggy" however experience has shown that version 7.0.8.2 is the latest and most stable version available. You say you have uninstalled Nero, run the clean tool
http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then tried to install 7.0.8.2 from here
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845 without any luck.

I would suggest you post a Nero log from this location,Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.tx
if there is one there, so we can see whats happening.

Nero, when it's working is a GREAT program, however they do release some "buggy" versions it seems without any trials.

    @ nneptune5,

when u get the new version going and u try and use nero vision for making a dvd out of an .ASF file i dont think vision can handle it for if you looked at the thread i started under Saltgrass's post i had no luck with trying to covert that type of file, however i im using a different version of nero 7012. im curious to see if you go to that version gwendolin said and nero vision works with the .asf file can u post back to tell me if it works.

i mainly use nero for my dvd burning and have had not one problem so thats why i hesitate to go up to that different version
    thanks in advance

The .asf file came out just fine when I burned the file to DVD using the 7.08xx version....and you're quite welcome!

Now that you have installed 7.0.8.2 , stick with it and I'm sure you'll be pleased with your results, good luck.

I am happy with it. However, I have one question...I can convert DVD files to mpeg4 files, but they will only play on the Nero software as videos. Is there any way to get these files as video files (instead of a music file) to play on Windows Media Player or Winamp?
Thanks for all of your help!
