Im currently using Nero 6.3.1.6 and just wanted to know if Nero 7 is worth it? Just want to get some feedback before downloading the 100MB trial version.

    What are the pros/cons?

    Thank you

Personally i would stick with the version you have at present until Nero 7 is more stable.I'm lead to believe it has it's problems at present and is not as stable as earlier versions.I'm not 100% sure what the problem is with it i think it has something to do with spyware or something.Would anyone like to confirm or exspand on what i'm saying as i'm not 100% on all in the in's and out's on this one.I have just been advised against at present but can't fully remember all the reason's behind why.

Some folks do seem to have some problems with it. I have not had any problems with it at all. I dont see any spyware in it but I did scroll down before I downloaded and removed the option for that damn toolbar for ie that is packed with it by default. I can not stand them things. And personaly have no use for yahoo whatsoever.

I've been using Nero 7 for awhile now, and I love it.
The only thing I noticed is I had to set the nero.exe
in the Core folder to compatability mode Win 2000 for
it to not crash under XP Home when running "Burn Image"

Also, I cannot seem to disable the preview window
    when burning a DVD VIDEO

Hmmmm... I don't know why, but my Nero 7 Premium is burning flawlessly. Especially, both Nero Burning Rom and Nero Express (for burning) and Nero Recode 2 is outstanding on the encoding job.

No bugs from any of them applications whatsoever..!!

Anyone know how to disable the preview window when burning DVD Video?

It takes up enough resources without it!

You mean when you're "encoding" using Nero Recode 2? If so, then just click [uncheck] on the little "checkmark" on top of the little preview windown and that'll take care/disable the preview option.

If you're familiar with DVD Shrink, then Nero Recode 2 works the same thing as DVD Shrink, but it encodes/compress 2 times faster. In another word, Nero Recode 2 will encode and or compress any DVD9 into DVD5 (4.7GB disc).

I've been using Nero VIsion to encode avi to DVD burn, since it transcodes it for you.

Yes... Nero Vision 4 will convert AVI or DivX into DVD and it will burn them as well.

Hmmmmmmmm... I haven't use Nero Vision to convert for at least 3 months now, so I can't really remember. I'll let you know whenever I have any AVI or DivX project to do alright.

The funny thing is I asked the official Ahead support team via email but they kept misunderstanding my question and asking me for error messages and then explained how to get an error log etc... They never could understand what i was asking.

I just got version 7 and loaded it. Proplem is.. when I try to capture video the first thing it wants to do is test my device. It runs thru all 15 tests Ok (as long as there is a video feeding it, otherwise it fails all 15) After it shows me the results of the tests and I proceed, I get a system halt and mem dump. This occurs whethere it passes or fails the tests. Things I've done: Verified all hdwr exceeds requirements. Verified no virus or spyware. Downloaded all nero 7 updates. Contacted helpdesk twice...NO human responce. still waiting.....3 days of this now....ask me again if Nero 7 is worth it. Anyone else had this experience?

I found for XP Users you need to goto Nero's Core folder, and set the compatability mode on nero.exe to Windows 2000

I's stick with nero 6. nero 7 really offers nothing worth while aside from more bloat like their make belive media center junk and nero scout (no option to not install nero scout) nero burning rom is pertty much the same. nero vision 4 is really no faster then the nero vision 3 aside from the smart encode option. nero vision 4 also has alot of bugs like motion menus and animated buttons will cause your menu highlights to not work.
