The issue that i have with nero 7 is.
when i try creating dvd movie form the video files it takes up to 13 houres. i dont know the reason and i have spent a great amout of time trying to figur this one out but couldnt.
with nero 6.6 i had no such problems.
does anyone know where the catch is?

ok this is what i'm getting here.

    Device 0

Transfer mode : DMA if availble
Current Transfer Mode : Ultra DMA Mode 2

    Device 1

Transfer mode : DMA if availble
Current Transfer Mode : Not Applicable

The only difference in the secondery IDE is (under Device 0)

Current Transfer Mode : Ultra DMA Mode 5

I'm assuming that the Current Transfer Mode in device 1 also needs to be 2 or 5 as shown in the guide but i cant get it that way.
    somehow

I'm afraid you didn't followed the guide correctly. You NEED TO "uninstall" its/the driver(s), so it can reverse back to On or DMA Available.

In my laptop it also says dma not applicable on drive 1 of ide 0 (Primary).
But that's because I don't have a slave drive on it. If his computer is the same way, he needs to check ide 1 (secondary) and see what it says also.

I am willing to bet that the major part of your thirteen hour burn is the actual rendering from your video files to DVD. It sounds like you don't have enough laptop to do the job. Even on my own system, a P4 3ghz w/1G ram, it takes on the average of 2 hours to do the rendering. The actual burning is only 10-15 minutes.

    Phobet,
Read the thread, I'm not the one with the burning issues. I use my laptop for forums, surfing, etc. I don't use it for burning. I use my desktop for burning and it has win xp pro sp 2, 2 hdd, a p4 3.2ghz cpu with HT, 2 dvd burners (to make 2 copies at once if I want), 2gb ddr pc3200. My Desktop is a custom built system, with tweaks. It's not as good as some have, but it's a heck of alot better than my Laptop (I'm no idiot).

yes i have done that i have uninstalled IDE drivers, and also the burner drivers. i have followed as it says there but no change.
this issue ocurred evers since i purchesed the nero 7 ultra edition.
i had no problem with this before.
the major part is converting to dvd files as phobex said.
but burning takes 10 min max 16x media. so cant figur this one out.

    @Prdo

Can you post your Nero log? Nero Vision log or Nero Burning Rom log? If you've tried to "uninstall" the drivers and it still shows PIO Mode, Off, or Not available, then you may need to "disconnect" your IDE ribbon cable(s), wait 15 seconds and "connect" it back on. Now once you restart your computer, Windows should "automatically" detects your drivers and put it back to DMA Mode (2 or 5) depends on your system.

Another thing to look out for is to do as ddp had mentioned, so make sure you DON'T INSTALLED or DON'T have those extra softwares i.e. Roxio and InCD on your system because both Roxio and InCD is well known to have a conflict with Nero. Therefore you are likely to have other issues and the most known issue is creating "coasters".

A burn log is the best thing to post as we can see what is causing your problems. As my buddy alkohol said, Roxio and INCD are some of the WORST offenders when it comes to confilcts with Nero and they have to go for most ppl, if they want to use Nero.

    [bold]Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt

    Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.txt [/bold]

These things record all burns, and we only need the last one. The burns are seperated by something like this
that was from a Nero 6 log, but 7 looks much like that. Underneath the divider is the operating system, and right below that is the begining of the serial number. When posting a log, just include the last burn log, and edit out your serial numbers by typing xxxx over them.

Roxio vs. Nero... It's a matter of choice. Some prefer Roxio (hubby use to), some prefer Nero (I always have, and changed hubby's mind too). From my experience (watching hubby try to burn using Roxio), Nero is MUCH better (jmo).
