I have just purchased Nero 7 Premium today in the UK (awaiting delivery) but does anyone know which Plug-ins are included in the retail version of Nero 7 Premium, such as the mp3PRO, DVD-Video, and the Multichannel Plug-ins. Thanks!
I've got the USA cd from Best Buy, the Ultra Edition. Actually, I'm not sure, as the manual has notes about only a certain amount of files being supported before needing to purchase a full version of the plugin. But then in the section regarding the mp3pro plugin as an available purchase, it states that the mp3pro plugin is included in retail versions of Nero 7 Ultra Edition. This is confusing. I believe the MPEG2/DVD Video plugin is included, as it was in Nero 6 Ultra Edition, however it is unclear regarding the mp3pro plugin. There is no mention of the Lame mp3 plugin which was added to Nero 6 Ultra Edition. I have an old version of the mp3pro plugin that I have been installing on my Nero 6, but don't want to install it on Nero 7 until this is figured out. If a newer full version is included I don't want to mess things up by installing the old thing I got way back when I was using Nero 5. The multichannel audio plugin is there, as Showtime lists all the speaker combinations. I hope they issue a patch soon. I'm suffering from the bug where opening Nero Express breaks being able to open Nero Burning Rom. I'd rather not delete possible needed registry entries or install older versions of Nero updates not mean't for Nero 7. I generally use Nero Express for adding files to my multisession cd's anyway, so I'm okay for the time being. But of course I want access for Nero Burning Rom for anything else, so I hope they issue a Nero 7 specific update soon.
what big changes are there from Ultra Edition and Premium? Also I have Premium and I thought the themes would change from 6 but NO;0. Are their downloadable themes out there?
Well, the colors are different. Nero Express has a different GUI when you start it up to select what you want to do as well. Did you uninstall Nero 6 from add/remove, reboot, then use the Nero CleanTool, reboot again? Following that I also found the Ahead folder still in Program Files as well as an Ahead folder in Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data so I deleted those as well. Then I used jv16powertools2005 to remove the remaining Ahead software that was still listed in its software manager tool, then ran its registry cleaner and rebooted again. So Nero 7 was a fresh install. I don't know why your themes weren't changed, but the stuff does look similar but with different colors and slightly different looking menu's on my clean install. As far as I know the Premium edition is the non-USA version and the Ultra edition is the USA version. The only software difference, I believe, is the absence of Nero PhotoShow Express on the non-USA version. Heh, heh, I tried using the Nero Product Setup shortcut in the start menu to update it. That's the new way that updates are being distributed instead of huge downloads of the full program. Only files that need to be replaced are downloaded. The thing just opened my browser to the Nero website, then popped up a message saying this update will do all sorts of marvelous things for the program. After I clicked OK to that, Nero crashed! I don't think they have any updates yet, but all this crashing is ridiculous in a released product. Sure hope they give us an update so I can open Nero Burning Rom without it crashing. This is not good. But, after using Nero for many years I have my hopes up. They usually fix stuff pretty quickly. Not by tech support of course, but they do issue update fixes pretty quickly.
I guess it is a little different in theme and color. nothing that jumps out on you when you first install and start.
Yeah, not a big change. I found a work around for opening Nero Burning Rom. In Nero Express one of the tabs in options lets you restore defaults. Once I did that and the program closed, Nero Burning Rom opens normally again. So no registry key deletion is necessary as restoring defaults solves the problem, but Nero Express causes this if you open it so to keep Nero Burning Rom available I've got to just use that. No switching until Nero comes out with a patch to fix this. I had to redo any changes I wanted like enabling all supported formats for Image Recorder as any changes are set back to defaults (duhh!) when restoring defaults. Plus, that Nero Home thing won't open any of my music files to play. I just wanted to see what the thing would do. It index's all my files and lists them like a library, but will not successfully open anything. Bug fixes coming I'm sure.
Oh. I couldn't register the Nero PowerPack LAME encoder either. The program changes one letter of the serial number when it pastes it on to the web form (not changable), then opens a page saying it couldn't successfully register so try again later. The old mp3PRO plugin won't install, saying it's only for Nero 5.5-6.9. The built in one for Nero 7 Ultra (Retail) doesn't list any of the better quality formats to encode to, so that's useless. I hope they fix that too.
Hey, I just noticed that on Nero SmartStart there's an icon on the bottom for configure. There, you'll find a Styles tab with choices of colors and appearence. I never noticed that before. A little WindowBlinds stuff, eh? So you can change the theme.
This won't solve your problems, but I have an opinion. I worked for start up companies and I am fed up of software programmers thinking their little piece of code is the greatest invention on the planet. The marketing depts are out of control tease feeding us what we need to make anything work. You buy a piece of software, then as time progresses, you see you need this plugin & that plugin but does not include a converter. And if it does, cannot rotate video without another purchase of some sort. Needless to say, I don't have much respect for the way software is going in the digital video domain. Consumers are confused by what they need to make something work. This only promotes piracy of codes since nobody but nobody is going to spend hundreds of dollars just trying to put a few home videos and pictures on DVD's that can play on a home DVD player. Okay. My steam has been released. I have Nero 6 and can't figure out why there is no video in the preview screen after conversion to a DVD format. Only audio. Can anybody help?
I was unable to register the Nero 7 Lame encoder either. I got a serial number by email from Ahead, but on my version 7.0.0.0 the enter new serial number menu item under the help menu does nothing. I used regedit to enter the new serial number directly into the registry, then when I launched Nero a dialog came up to enter a new serial number. The new SN sent by Nero did not work - is was not accepted by the dialog so I had to restore my original serial. I understand that signficant bug fixes are due in a new release tomorrow. Hopefully this will help. Nero has been very prompt to issue bug fixes over the years, but it looks live version 7.0.0.0 is not quite ready for prime time.
Guess you guys know by now that ..they didn't release the 7 today for us with upgradeable serials....and sounds like some of you think like i do...sure would be nice if they would let us down load it all in one down load....instead of bits and peices.....as i would really like to not only uninstall my ultra 6 but ....wipe my left behind folders ..not just delete....then clean upi reg.. then install all in one shot....you know down load to file ..then install... then burn my back up...hehehe.... just an old highway tramp ----Bill---
A workaround to enter additional serial numbers if the option in the help menu doesn't work: In Nero StartSmart: press the flame icon in the lower right corner (Nero ProductCenter).
Hello ther, I was thinking of buying Nero 7. I have used nero in the past and thought it was great. I just wanted to know what the best version of nero 7 is. I want as many features as possible and am not woried about the cost. it is not ver clear if ultra edition or priemium edition is better. Thnaks very much for your time, and i hope i can hear from you as soon as possible.
Ultra Edition is for USA customers and Premium Edition is for European customers. Nero PhotoShow Express is not on the Premium Edition cd. So neither is "better." Just get the version made for where you live.
Hi again, I have downloaded the demo version of nero 7. I live in europe. If i enter a premium license key then will i get all the avalible features in nero 7 premium? And if i enter an ultra edition key then will i get photoShare? The demo i downloaded didnt say if it was an ultra or premium edition. Thanks
I think Nero Photoshow Express is a separate download. With Nero 6 it was offered on the download page for the full update versions of Nero 6 Ultra Edition. I'm not surprised it is not part of the demo. Both the Ultra and Premium editions include Nero PhotoSnap, which is a different feature incorporated with Nero. Nero Photoshow Express is a separate program. I don't know how Nero is handling the serial numbers for the new Nero 7. I do know that PhotoShow Express offers features that are generally included as part of many different photo editing programs. Just use whatever program you like for that. If it's Nero Photoshow, then you'd still need to purchase the Elite version of it to get as many features as common photo editing programs have. I wouldn't get hung up on this. Just use the one made for your country.
