    Hi there,

I have an external usb 2.0 DVD-RW (BENQ DVD L5 DW1655) that has been working fine. For some reason, I cannot copy dvd's in Nero anymore as of this afternoon. When I open the DVD copy section and go to the BURN tab, there is no BURN button. If I click on INFO, I get "Sorry the current recorder supports on the following disc type(s):CD-R/W, Fixed Packetwriting"

Yet I can use Nero to create new DVD's and up until this afternoon I had no trouble copying them either.

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Hello.

Have you installed any other burning software like Roxio?

Unplug the burner and restart your system. Check in Device Manager under DVD/CD-ROM Drives to see that the external burner is no longer installed. If it is still installed (i.e. listed), right click on the name of the drive and select uninstall. Restart the system again with the burner still not plugged in. Check Device Manager again that the device is uninstalled.

If the burner is uninstalled (doesn't show up in the list), plug it back in. WinXP should detect it and reinstall the burner.

Uninstall Nero 7 with the Nero 7 Clean Tool.

Then run the Driver Clean Tool and the Registry Checker:

Then install Nero 7.0.8.2 from here:

If none of the above solves the problem, try resetting the OS to a restore point before the problem occurred.
