Well here's what's happening, I'm very new to the DVD-9 burning materials and I wanted to see what kind of capabilites I could have with these types of media, so in saying I'm an avid user of Nero 7 Ultra Edition and until this point I've had few complaints with the software, but when it comes to the dual layer burning I am having a serious encoding problem. I'm using Nero Vision 4 and my firmware for for DVD/CD drive is up to date, but I doubt that's the problem. No what my problem is has to deal with the transcoding process. I take all the necessary steps that I must to get to the transcoding process and I set almost all things to automatic except menus and layout of the DVD, but after about 50 to 55% of the transcoding is complete my Nero freezes I mean I've checked the task manager of my computer and it says it's till running, but it's froze and won't move any further I let the program remain open for 5 hrs after it's done this on two seperate occasions, but with failure. I'm using Windows XP Service Pack 2 with a AMD Athlon 64 3000+ CPU and 1.5 gigs of RAM, I don't see any reason for these problems except that my Nero is messing up and the weird thing about this is that it gets to about the 4.39 GB space for a typical DVD-5 and then just stops the transcoding process. Am I doing something wrong or is my hardware/software got bug in it? Please help me I'm way beyond frustration at this point.
Hi Dave8605 Welcome to aD Which version of 7 are you using? Like 7.0.8.2 etc. Anything else running? What file types are you using in Vision?
Yeah you hit that on the money I am using 7.0.8.2 and I turn off all other background programs i even disable my Nrton Antivirus because i thought it could be creating problems and I'm using wma file types yes i need my hands slapped for that, but I figured if Nero says it supports the file type then it should be working. Oh yeah and I've created many DVD-5's that had wma files in them with no problems and I was using the same version of Nero 7. I really don't know what is wrong with it? Well the DVD-9 Transcoding that is.
you might try uninstalling and doing a clean reinstall of neroto see if that helps . have you tryed other programs for DL like img burn or clonedvd 2
Already tried that actually not to be a pain or anything, but I am pretty computer knoledgeable, so in saying I've already done a clean reinstall and thats when I switched up to 7.0.8.2, but I was having problems with both versions/updates of Nero. I've actually never heard of img burn or CloneDVD 2, are they free because I'd rather not pay for something again, the DL's alone costed me enough.
CloneDVD is a pay program, but it does have a free 21 day trial. It will not do encrypted movies so you will have to either rip your movie first, or use its companion sw AnyDVD, which is a driver that runs in the background to break the protection, it also has a 21 day free trial. http://www.slysoft.com Imgburn will burn iso files only, so you must use a program that will rip an iso file. Imgburn is the updated burning part of the old DVD Decrypter program. I still use DVD Decrypter for doing DL backups, all you do is iso read, then iso write. I have use all these programs and have no complaints on my DL backups. http://www.imgburn.com For DVD Decrypter http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/software.htm Guide for CloneDVD and AnyDVD backups http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/BACKUP WITH CLONEDVD&ANYDVD.pdf
and to setup dvd decrypter o imgburn with anydvd do this... To use DVD Decrypter in conjunction with AnyDVD as stated per Olli ->OF SLYSOFT AND CLONEDVD Proceed to the DVD Decrypter Opening Page - Tools - Settings I/O Tab - Click on "Elby CDIO-Elaborate Bytes" General Tab - un-check "Check For Structure Protection" also Verbatim is your best choice for DL blank media burning at 2.4x or NOT above 4x
