i purchased nero 7 ultra edition on nov 13. i was looking at the nero web site and noticed that there is an update for nero 7. is this an update to correct problems with nero 7?? i am having problems with it freezing up and have not heard back from nero on any solutions to my problem.
let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar. You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"
i removed nero7 and reinstalled it--everything seems to be working correctly -except nero burning rom -which does not open because of an error 7:03:53 PM #13 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1058 Prepare recorder [E: HP DVD Writer 400c] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x40; Session Closed, disc fixated Tracks 1 to 1: 1: TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048/0x00, FilePos 0 0 3553034240, ISRC "" DAO layout: =========== __Start_|____Track_|_Idx_|_CtrlAdr_|_RecDep__________ 0 | lead-in | 0 | 0x41 | 0x00 0 | 1 | 0 | 0x41 | 0x00 0 | 1 | 1 | 0x41 | 0x00 1734880 | lead-out | 1 | 0x41 | 0x00 7:03:53 PM #14 Text 0 File SCSIPassThrough.cpp, Line 34 SPTILockVolume - completed successfully for FCTL_LOCK_VOLUME 7:03:53 PM #15 Phase 36 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1724 Burn process started at 8x (11,080 KB/s) 7:03:53 PM #16 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 2669 Verifying disc position of item 0 (not relocatable, no disc pos, no patch infos, orig at #0): write at #0 7:03:53 PM #17 SPTI -1066 File SCSIPassThrough.cpp, Line 306 CdRom0: SCSIStatus(x02) WinError(0) NeroError(-1066) Sense Key: 0x05 (KEY_ILLEGAL_REQUEST) Sense Code: 0x24 Sense Qual: 0x00 CDB Data: 0xAD 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 08 04 00 00 Sense Area: 0x70 00 05 00 00 00 00 12 00 00 00 00 24 Buffer x038cce00: Len x804 7:03:53 PM #18 Text 0 File DVDPlusRW.cpp, Line 666 Start write address at LBA 0 DVD high compatibility mode: Yes 7:11:55 PM #19 Text 0 File WriterStatus.cpp, Line 116 <E: HP DVD Writer 400c> start writing Lead-Out at LBA 1734880 (1A78E0h), length 0 blocks 7:11:55 PM #20 Text 0 File ThreadedTransfer.cpp, Line 228 all writers idle, stopping conversion 7:12:15 PM #21 Phase 37 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1724 Burn process completed successfully at 8x (11,080 KB/s) Existing drivers: File 'Drivers\PXHELP20.SYS': Ver=2.02.70a, size=20176 bytes, created 3/3/2004 1:02:00 AM (Prassi/Veritas driver for win 2K) Registry Keys: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\AllocateCDROMs : 0 (Security Option) ====== *** Nero Burning ROM, History File *** ======

now we're cookin' on gas... - i think the latest update is (still) 7.0.1.2, from here - http://www.nero.com/nero7/eng/nero7-up.php - newer version of your firmware is here, 'KH27' - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1726 that's the latest firmware HOWEVER that's a year old now..it's gonna have trouble recognising some newer discs - you gotta close down more programs prior to dvd work/burning to free up more memory, you've got none left. 512MB is sufficient total memory but something's used it ALL. - see previous comment - the burner can't recognise that disc properly, here's an example (not the best example as it's CMC but it's an example) of what it should look like, ie you should have a 3line paragraph similar to this when your bank discs are recognised - - ie your burner can't recognise those blank discs. if the newer firmware update doesn't solve it, you need to either try different discs (and hope the burner's firmware recognises them, or at worst, buy a newer burner - try 4x, but follow all the other suggestions too
thanks for your help-nero suport has just got back to me and hopefully with all this help i can resolve the problem thanks rolg
I Need A Serial Number To Nero 7.0.1.2 Burning Rom---I Bought It Online And Was Not Given A Serial Number. Nero's Only Reply Was "We Appologize For The Inconvenience."
[bold]mentholbo[/bold] NO you cannot ask for serial numbers. persevere with Nero. if you got it legally you just need to sort it out. you get something like a month's trial anyway so it's not like you can't use it.
try looking thru this - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/262603 if that doesn't work then you need to talk to Nero again, or whoever you purchased it from.
