Seems as if Nero 7 is not good for GameCube images: "For months I've been getting numerous reports of failed burns of GameCube images using the newly released Nero Burning ROM v7.0. So I finally got around to running some tests and it indeed includes some sort of routine to purposely screw up your burns. Though I could be wrong, but I think after wasting 20 mini DVDs using seven different burners plus the few hundred emails, private messages and ranting I've seen on IRC I'm pretty much confident that you should avoid using this version and stick with v6.0 when it comes to the GameCube." Although this cannnot be certain as tehskeen forums state that some people have been getting positive results. Thanks to "brakken" teh overseer of http://www.tehskeen.com
Interesting. All my GC images that were burned with Nero 6 work ever so sweetly yet after going 7 they did not work. HOWEVER, as I have 1.3a, 1.3b4 and 1.3c BIOS on my Qoob Pro I found that the images burnt with Nero 7 work with 1.3a BIOS and nothing else. Anybody else had this or tried it? Looks like I'll head back to Nero 6 then.
Is that what the problem is? Qoob Pro's 1.3c BIOS has a different default boot code than 1.3a, but can switch back to it whenever there's a problem. I think it was called "Drive mode" or something similar in the options menu with choices being "A" and "B" with "B" as the default. "A" should be the one used in 1.3a. If you don't mind, try using those backups in 1.3c with the different drive mode and see if it works or not.
I have found that Nero 7 hasn't worked for me either. Lots of the games boot up properly but following into 10 minutes of gameplay or later, a DRE pops up. I've only recently switched to Nero 7 to see what its like. I have burnt about 70 GC discs at 8x with copytodvd coupled with Taiyo Yuden DVD+R's and no DRE's whatsoever. I've only had one and that was because I was doing other simultaneous tasks during the burn. I suggest you try this program, their burning engine is amazing from my experience, better than Nero I think. http://www.vso-software.fr/products/copytodvd/copytodvd.php btw, I'm running qoob pro 1.3c with viper gc case.
Drive Mode? Never seen that! All I do is boot my GC which is defaulted to 1.3c then go into the Options Menu then Applications and choose 1.3a BIOS and it boots it then stick in my Game Disc and away it goes!!!! Although I think I'll try the copytodvd proggie if it is good.
When you load any Qoob Pro BIOS it'll have a Settings menu on the Options menu. From the settings menu you can change the video mode, enable/disable audio fix, change the drive mode (1.3c only), change the background and about one or two other things. Haven't you ever checked the settings menu before?
I have the boot mode set to A all the time in 1.3c bios, I've never tried B but then again, I never had the need to since no DRE's.
B Mode is just the same. To repeat it fails to boot up any new games in 1.3c with games burned with Nero 7 but switch to 1.3a and no probs!
