    Hello all, I wonder if anyone has run into this problem before. For some reason I am no longer able to change the book type of a blank dvd disk in Nero Vision or any other part of Nero for that matter. At one time I uninstalled the driver for my Lite-on burner and let it reinstall upon reboot. The option to change the book type was back but did not stay for long. Next disk I tried to build, it wasn't there again and have not been able to get it back since. If anyone has an idea I would greatly appriciate any help. I do have the dvd video multichannel plugin. Thanks, Rick..

    Honestly, I don't know about you, but am using the latest Nero 8.3.6.0 and it booktyped and burned flawlessly for me. Both of my burners (SONY and Lite-on) automatically booktyped whenever I burned with DVD+R and DVD+R DL.

    Silly question, but you are using +R discs...correct?

    Hi guys, thanks for replying to my question. I'm using version 8.2.8.0 at least I believe thats right. Also i'm using -R blanks. But I could have swore I was able to change book-type on these disks before. I do however have the option if I put in a +R disk. Which leads me to my next question. I want to set the book-type so that my burned disks will play in older players. So, which blanks should I use, -R or +R ? and what should I set the book type to? As you can probably tell I'm confused..

    -R's are typically widely accepted by stand-alone dvd players. These, cannot be booktyped.

    The +R format can be booktyped to DVD-ROM for better compatibility with standalone players.

    In short, you cannot booktype the -R format.

    @tech

    Yes, 7thsinger is corrected. You can't booktype on DVD-Rs, you can only change them when using/burning DVD+R, DVD+RW and DVD+R DL media. That is why I'm all for DVD+Rs and changing 'em to DVD-ROM.
