I have been using Nero for years. The copy on my desktop is for regular use, but I also have a copy on my notebook for occasional use when travelling. (ie the two copies are never in use at the same time.) However, Nero 8 now checks for this and promptly describes my notebook copy at "pirated". It then asks a few questions, and I answer truthfully that I want it installed on two machines. Their blunt, auto-response is "then buy a second copy." (paraphrased) For this minimal use I can't justify the cost of a second copy. My best option is to search for a free burner for my notebook, but I would rather stick with Nero. Does anyone know a way to handle this issue? (One thing is for sure.. Version 8 is the final version I am buying.) Thanks. I had the same idea (I use Zone Alarm), and thought I had blocked all references to Nero, but Nero still "knew" I was using it on a 2nd machine. You are right, though; I disconnected my router and everything worked OK. (Which is probably going to work for me, because when I travel I am usually doing stuff without being online.) But, if anyone knows where in Zone Alarm to disable this I would appreciate it. I have 42 Nero entries in ZA! One of which is ZeroPatentActivation, but that doesn't seem to be it.
