hey everyone, every time i try to burn a movie using nero vision 5 i have a transocing problem. i would leave my laptop alone and wheni come back its gone no trace of anything. when i would burn in using high quality transcoding it has no problem but it takes forever. i rather use fast encoding 1 but it never goes through. i have windows vista inte centrino duo 2.0GHz and 1014 RAM 32 bit operating system. any suggestions?
Interesting, I get this but not in transcoding, but during heavy rendoring of real time video in editing mode (time line). As I shift through in either minute of frames, it slugs down and sometimes just crashes, closes out without saving anything. I overclock so I of corse figured it was my high RAM and divider, so I relaxed some of the RAM sub timings timings and same thing. I will test later at a lower or even stock 400x8 and see what happens.
awesome let me know what happens. i just ordered more ram for my laptop im going to increase it by 1GB. i will see if that makes a difference.
"RAM", You know I was thinking I was running out, but while monitoring the RAM usage in Everest, it only used 60% on average in intence real time rendoring but CPU usage was up to 89% in each of 2 core. It relaxed to 46% RAM use and 11&9% CPU cores 1&2. Core 2 E6750 to 3.8GHz (480x8) and 2x 1gb DDR1066 to 1153MHz (5:6).
try a defrag to your pc... try uninstalling nero useing the clean tool from nero website, and install fresh after defrag. could just be this 1 input file? others maybe ok...
K, did that, and also relaxed a few RAM sub timings to help. It still fails but this time around, it sometimes returns a run time error or theat and end program before just closing out like before. But it has just plain crashed too. Not sure if the reinstall or timings helped more. I do noticed while monitoring in Everest Ultimarte v4.50.xx it runs the RQAM usage up gradually till it reaches 91~97% then crashes. If I can hold back on rendoring when I see it reach max, it doesnt realese the RAM usages untill I "Next" out of editing window and wait a while, then at best it loweres to only 78%. I compared it to my Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0 wich uses 78% RAM from the get go and pings to 99% at max and holds, so it must be something related to NeroVision and RAM usage. Wherer can this be checked or tweaked?
not sure where you could or how to check that out? as you can see in the nero forum it bombs out alot, doesnt gell with some pc's and other it runs ok.
Have a look in the event log in control panel in administration tools event viewer choose the applications log might give you some idea why it crashes just a thought
History logs for versions 7.10.1.0 onwards are located here...probably hidden files C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Application Data\Ahead Open Windows Explorer, go to Tools->Folder Options->View, and Check "Show Hidden Files and Folders" Not too sure about Nero8 though.
O.K. I checked both. I did find the log under Nero8 and I dont know what I'm looking for but see mentions of MMTool, buikding casch for (my movie name) on (my scratch drive). The scratch drive is not in a RAID like OS and app but it is SATA150 and is used w/ many other media apps to temp and burn. The event viewer shows 4 errors but cant really make out if it's for or from Nero. It, or they all say sorce: "LoadPerf" followed by: "The performance strings in the Performance registry value is corrupted when process Performance extension counter provider. BaseIndex value from Performance registry is the first DWORD in Data section, LastCounter value is the second DWORD in Data section, and LastHelp value is the third DWORD in Data section." then, "The performance strings in the Performance registry value is corrupted when process Performance extension counter provider. BaseIndex value from Performance registry is the first DWORD in Data section, LastCounter value is the second DWORD in Data section, and LastHelp value is the third DWORD in Data section." The other 2 repeat the simular thing. When it is happening, it is loading up RAM usage to 91% but as it gets to 9usually) 95%, it errors if I back off or just ends/crashes out reverting to last session state, not save point (I was saving periodiacally during each session). Just to note, I tested same files in Adobe Premiere Elements v4.0 and older 3.0, and it performs fine, in fact much smoother scrolling within raw video previewing or when moving sliders for "cut" feature. I can run it to 98% RAM< usage and it keeps going or unloads RAM back to at least 71% as I rest/stop. So as far as I can tell, Nero has an issue with unl;oading RAM used to cashe or trying to go from physical to virtual RAM. Sometimes just before it crashes, I can see my HDD's read/writing big time then stop.
wow sort that link out break in 2 - page has gone massive. ok try changing cache and ultra cache in nero options see what happens?
all I see is just cache under options for either Nero Burning ROM or Express. It is at 16mb. Do I try more as in 32mb or less as in say 8mb for may RAM issue?. Where is the Ultra cache setting? is there a Windows performance setting that controls NeroVision's RAM usage? It doesnt seem to release the RAM when finished with a task. I have to save, exiot and reload. What would happen if I just disable virtual RAM in XP and it did use up all the RAM?
sorry ment ultra Buffer, go to file / options got a feeling it maybe a nero v8 bug? what version nero you useing? and have you tried other versions? also there it talks of drive buffer where could you set that???
Nero Ultra 8 v8.3.2.1 and NeroVision v5.3.3.0, under XP x64 SP2 (did the simular in x86, so as far as I known for 3+ yrs, since v7.0.0.0, all ran fine in x64 XP. So I will rule that out. I had started with the origional retail DVD asd it was worse then now, RAM got hoged up so fast during previewing of advanced 3D animated themes. I then moved to v8.1.1.0 or something and still not so good. EDIT: oK, found, but in manual do I want less or more RAM if I have 2g installed and using 36% average (45% when sitting in NeroVision)?
Edit:I need to add, that during all this, When upgrading from the Nero site with the compressed download pacgage and removing my DVD install to do it, I get a reported virus detection after the next boot. Something about a system32 worm in the Syswow64. I remove it bu it keeps coming back unless I manually remove it in safe-mode listed as svehost.exe. Not sure if it's supposed to be there and Symantic reads it as atrogen or worm cause it does that for a lot of things I actually need such as certain media encoding template plus ins from Adone in Premiere and Photoshot, I know weird, but it has done that before. So is this something Nero eses to communicate online or something even after registered? Or is it really a virus, cause I gotrid of it. But it does come back after any Nero 8 upgrades so not hard to get back. k, took a shot in the dark, and tested each a 10mb cache and 80mb ultra buffer and it got a bit further before it crashed. This wat, though, it does at least have time for stop error before closing out. I can get all the way up to 99% RAM usage but it eventually locks up and freezes and reports some kind of run time error and has to stop. I will note, that since the uninstall, defrag, and reinstall, it feels better. Now even though it errors out, it is saving the recent save point before crash. Now I am having issues transcoding a cerain file. How do I tell why from the log? I can rendor the file in editing, but not in transcoding. How can I export to make sure it is an AVI type NeroVision can handle? The exact movie file has worked in previoue versions of NeroVision v4 on it's own transcoding to DVD. So what is different now? Only thing I can note, is the movie file in question it a less compressed Xvid of over 2.05gb opposed to the rest of 256 -889mb to 1.4gb mixed. w/ AC3 audio.
Well let ask this...for example This file The Dark Knight TS XViD-STG will not let me burn on Nero Vision 5 alot of avi files will burn on there but most wont Let me also say that the files play well on Nero Entertainment but i cant burn...what should i do?
This movie has not yet been released on DVD so you're asking in the wrong place for any help with this one.
i know that much What about I Am Legend...ALL OF THAT MOVIES AVI FILES RIPPED wont upload older movies such as Goodfellas, Dreamgirls, and etc ALot of files wont upload... if we wanna discuss about Nero...could we discuss the problem at hand...NOT WHAT TYPE OF MOVIE IT IS? LOL
