hi i have recently bought a new computer intel 9400 quad with 4 gig ddr3 ram and with win 7. Previously i was using nero 6 which seemed to do all I wanted but was led to believe that it wouldn't run on win 7 so i have just purchased nero 9 reload, it went on fine then did the huge update. however i have a problem with making movies. I have copied movies from vcr onto an external hardrive in mpeg format when i go to nerovision and make a dvd it seems to load them ok however when i add them to the timeline only the audio comes across. i have also noticed it creates lots of segments which i dont want, but occasionly it will accept video if its no longer than around 10-15 minutes but with the sectors some of them are blank and there is no video just audio. No error messages come up,does anyone else have problems with making dvds? cold it be the update or can i or should I go back to nero 6 if it will work on win 7.

I make dvd's in a few clicks using 2 programs which i would ask you to test doing this yourself and find if it is easyier.

Download VSO DivxtoDVD and install but you would need a license for it

Download IMGburn and install also freeware

    Next

Drag audio files into VSO and click covert and leave it until finished

    Then

Slap a black in the dvd drive and open IMGburn, Select the folder and burn

    Then

Take disk out label it and slap it in a DVD player

    Never fails

Back in the day, Roxio used a driver which would conflict with Nero (and vice versa), and it was never advisable to have both installed on the same machine. This may not be the case anymore, but post a log of your failed encode/burn here and someone will be able to assist you properly.

hi thanks for that but i am able to burn without any problems, the problem is when i browse and insert a video file into the time line 2 things happen in nero 1st longer videos loose the video on putting it on the nero timeline (audio inserted without the video) and 2nd) with all videos, segments are put in that i dont want and with short videos up to 10 minutes some of the segments are blank no video but with the audio,
i have finally heard back from nero they say that even though i can play the videos using windows, nero and roxio, when it comes to editing with nero ( i can edit with roxio)there may be a conflict with the mpeg 2 files. they suggested I re-encode the video (with a third party software to fix the mpeg2 problems). i have done this twice now and it seems to work. to me it seems a flaw in nero as the same type of captured video works in nero 6 I have nero 8 essentias and used it to capture some of the video from a vcr and even they had the same problems. I am now using nero 9 reloaded.

I don't use Nero so wasn't aware of any file type incompatibilities when encoding, but I'm glad you've got a solution to your problem.
