Hello everyone. I've been trying to burn CDs using Nero 9 with little success. Nero Burning ROM appears to stop at around 6% with Writing Lead-In and then after fifteen minutes or so, the process stops with a Write Error. The disc appears closed because I could see the files on the disc, but most of the data are corrupted. The discs I use are Verbatim CD-Rs. I searched around the forums and most if not every log has something under that section. Is it important? Also if it's relevant, I'm using an HP tx2z laptop. The CD drive can be detached and removed from the inside of the laptop, leaving around 1/3 of the base hollow. Thanks in advanced!
The log doesn't say much except the message about it not liking the disk. Try burning with ImgBurn (it also provides a log). Since this is an HP laptop, have you checked their site for firmware update for the burner? Do you know if the burner can write data to DVD's ok?
I switched to an Office Depot branded CD-RW (although Nero InfoTool reports the manufacturer of the disc as Verbatim.) Unlike the CD-Rs, this CD-RW actually burned successfully. However, it failed verification (log file.) Then I erased the disc and tried burning the same compilation using another laptop with a different burner, and it burned and verified successfully. Then I also tried a TDK branded CD-RW (Nero InfoTool reports the manufacturer as Plasmon), and did the same steps as above, but Nero reported a Session fixation error in the middle of burning (log file). Again, the burner on my other laptop burned with no errors. So I installed ImgBurn and attempted to burn the same ISO with the Office Depot CD-RW. It started to fail when it began writing the Lead-In (log file.) Sadly, the HP page for my laptop doesn't contain firmware updates for the burner. I tried a Sony DVD+RW and it burned fine. Burning and verification was successful. Thanks for your help so far. Seems like my burner really hates CDs.
