I tried to back up Camille 2000 using my normal proceedure of Shrink and Nero. Priviously I used Nero 6.0 and have had great results. I was advised to add package 2 vision express update and package 1 Nero burning rom due to problem I was having not seeing Start Smart on my desktop or in my programs. However, when I installed these, although Start Smart came back, somehow Nero 6.6.1.4 came in. So when I tried to back up the movie I ran into problems, - can someone explain what happen? By the way I did try with DVD Fab, Decrypter and Shrink, and then was able to burn using Nero Burning Rom. Is the 6.6.1.4 cuasing problems.?Thanks folks!
The autoburn option with Shrink no longer works with 6.6.1.4, you will need to burn manually or go back to a previous version.
@keyrom Here's a link to the last version of 6 that autoburns w/ shrink. http://httpdl2.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe Package 1 on nero's website has 6.6.1.4.
Thank you arniebear and binkie7 - I downgraded to 6.6.0.18 and the autoburn for Nero works fine, and I am back up.(no pun intended) I found an interesting fact while I was toying with Nero awaiting your answers. I found that after analyzing the movie on shrink - I brought up my c drive where the movie was; brought up Nero Burning Rom - Dvd-Video,(ISO) and then simpy dragged the files over; clicked on recorder, burn compliation, and hit burn, and waited less than 10 minutes or less - now have excellent copy of the movie. I have been using Memorex and Sony DVD+R, and never had a problem - just bought Verbatim DVD+R, as many have recommended. It is great to have this support and dialogue. I have learned sooo much! Thank you all.
@keyrom, If you like the convenience of having shrink autoburn with nero, stick to version 6.6.0.18 until if and when nero fixes the problem. If you want to learn a little more about nero and burn those video files to disk manually if shrink ever fails you, here's a guide you can follow: Just remember to have shrink save target as a hard disk folder. http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/40/59/
@keyrom Glad things worked out! One thing about Nero is there are several ways to do the same thing. Look around the guide johnl123 linked to. You can also use Nero Express. Play with Nero a bit - it does quite alot! If you have AnyDVD your can use Recode instead of Shrink (same developer) to back up your movies also. Stick with the Sony (made in japan) or Verbatim - stay away from memorex!
Thank you for your information. One other item - when I used 6.6.0.18 and used the autoburn which worked fine, I noticed an additional line after the wording - burn process started at 4x, and then underneath was book type set to: DVD-Rom. It burned fine and seems to be OK. Any comment on this?
You must be using +R media, and your burner supports bitsetting to -R which will make the disk more compatible with older players that may not play +R format. It is a good thing You can read more about booktyping here http://www.cdfreaks.com/article/150
You've got the booktype setting set to automatic, you want this feature...when booktyping the burner writes in a way that tricks your standalone DVD player into thinking your disc is a DVD-ROM (store bought movie).
