Nero Audio Speed

I just got a lightscribe I/OMagic dvd burner and it came with Nero 7 Essentials. Specifically version 7.5.9.1

I made some videos of my friend's band playing using windows movie maker and the files work fine on my computer, on myspace, on youtube, everywhere except when I try to burn them to DVD. The video is fine, but the audio sounds like its being played too fast.

After trying multiple methods of importing other files including .wav .mp3 .aif .wma and even rebuilding the video files I kept having the same audio issues. In this version of Nero there is a demo section where you can see what your project will look like and even the audio for the default menu, something I'm assuming nero put there because I didn't, is screwed up sounding.

I've tried this on my laptop and my desktop and all I'm coming up with is a lot of frustration and hair pulling. The burner itself works, it's just that the video comes out exactly like Nero makes it with the screwed up sound.

I'm about to install the K mega codecs that I saw in another thread on here and if that doesn't work I'm downloading the trial version of Nero 8, but I don't want to pay for it if I'm just going to have the same problems.

If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated as I'm now on my third day of trying to do something that I thought should have taken about 30 minutes.

Before installing anything else, are you saying that you are converting files to DVD format and when playing back the disk, the audio is bad?

If, instead of burning the disk, you have Nero save the output to a hard drive folder - and you play back those files with a media player, is the sound bad.

The audio is bad before it even converts it. I'll try outputting to the hard drive, but since the preview is bad I suspect I'll have the same result, I'll post when it finishes outputting.

Same thing, I output it to the hard drive and when I played it from there the audio was still messed up.

sounds like codecs if even playing audio before it gets to nero isnt working as should.

No, the audio and video are fine before Nero Vision. Its when it's in Nero Vision being prepared to be burned that it messes up.

Wierd thing though, I imported the files into the VCD part of Nero, the Nero Express Essentials and it worked up until it tried to burn as a vcd onto a dvd.

Yeah, the codecs was the first thing I tried just cause it was the only thing that made any kind of sense.

the only other thing that springs to mind is nero ESSENTIALS isnt the main nero app i think its a lesser version of the full version, just wondering if this could be a problem?

also too many codecs installed to your pc can currupt each other.

what is the audio before nero and after nero changes it? mp3? AC3 ?

This is the Nero essentials package that came with my burner, just in case it's supposed to do that to make you go buy the super special edition version or something?

But if it was, then why can I import the raw video files from my camera into Vision and get the audio from the camera there.

nero is known for its own codecs being installed when you get extra serials installed like ac3 plugin, im just wondering if its useing a nero video plugin ok but a pc codec for audio if ya follow me and not truely nero all the way?

i read people disable nero codecs and use pc only codecs that nero will pull in, but i read this for out of sync issues...

just trying to throw a few irons in the fire as this is an odd one which we dont see here.

i know for fast video its deffo a codec issue, had it myself. just wondering if audio is simarlar...

use gspot on the audio before and after...

I can't figure out how/what to export from gspot to figure out if its working correctly or not. At the moment I'm using AVS video converter to see if that makes them into the dvd files. If that works then I think something is just wrong with the Nero version I have. I've got Nero 7.11.x.x update downloading right now, but its gonna be a few hours still before I can try that

Well AVS worked, I guess if I can figure out a way to make menus then I can just use that. Kinda sucks that I've fought with Nero for this long and I just installed the other one and it worked first try no issues.
