Hi everyone I have been having problems recently with my nero premium 7.0.0.0 I have in the past made my own custom dvd's which are of t.v series which I usually make up with 6 episodes on each dvd. As I say I never had any problems, but now when I try to do the same thing I have noticed that when viewing any of my episodes whilst watching the finished dvd every episode plays fine, but approx or a third way through viewing you can see that the lip sync is noticably out. This is on all episodes that are recorded on the dvd, I have tried to reduce the amount right down to only having 3 episodes, but still have no sucess in solving the audio sync problem. I did update my version of nero premium but when I first noticed this problem I used the clean tool and re-installed the verion I have now which did work a while back. Can anyone help me out.
Hello: This is not an unusual occurence when using Nero for whatever reason. I assume you're using AVIs and not recordings you made yourself. The best version of Nero 7 seems to be 7.0.8.2. Run the Nero 7 Clean Tool which you apparently already have and then download and install 7.0.8.2 from this link: http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845 Many around here use ConvertXtoDVD for converting AVIs to DVD. The trial version watermarks its output but try it and see if the audio sync problem disappears. You can always add a menu later. http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/ Edit: added Sometimes the quality of the media and burning speed can be a factor. Do you know the actual manufacturer of your media. If not, download DVD Identifier from the link below and run it with one of the disks in your burner. It will provide the media code which indicates the actual manufacturer and thus an indication of the disk quality. http://dvdidentifier.cdfreaks.com
Heres another suggestion submitted by a member. [bold]I support recommendations made by laddyboy[/bold]
Hi sorry it's taken me so long to report back on my audio sync problem using nero, but I have been busy constantly trying all sorts of configurations to no avail. I tried all the suggestions I was given and found convert x a good program. With that program I re-done my video files ( 8 in all, a complete tv series ) of which each episode lasts for 55 mins, I made a dvd with menu using nero as I have always done in the past - I burnt it to a hard-drive folder then tried it. The quality was great but yet again halfway through the episode the audio lip sync started to go out & by the end of the episode it was way out. This was the first time I had managed to get so many episodes on 1 dvd ( I also made a re-writeable dvd to see if that made a difference + save on having a coaster ) but this was the same. I then tried to split the series down to two dvd discs ( 4 ep each ) but this made no difference either. All my episodes play fine with no sync problems if watched on the computer using either nero showtime or windows media player so I know my films are fine. This has really got me baffled. A final point - I have also downloaded 3 different films ( 2 are x-vid 1 is divx ) and put them all on 1 dvd using the same method as always with my nero, and there is no audio sync problems !!
Two things. Does stopping the playback and then restarting, resync the audio? What brand of media are you using and at what speed did you burn?
Hi there, I'm pretty new to all this and I'm having problems with nero 7 too. I am trying to transfer from VHS and covert it to DVD. I have successfully managed to capture both acts of a concert. Act 2 burned really well and I created menus and all was well. Act 1 which I thought was okay for some reason had no audio. When I checked the avi file - the audio was there yet when I burned to DVD the sound went. I tried to recapture and now have hideous synch problems which I wasn't getting before. Even when I got zero frames dropped (was just an idea I had that that may have been the problem) the synch was way out. I know it was working and I'm not sure why it's all gone wrong now. I also can't understand why I am getting no sound on the end DVD from a perfectly sound (pardon the pun!) avi. Can anyone help? Many thanks for your time.
just wanted to join this thread, as I am having similar troubles... and am anxious to hear solutions that work! I am transfering VHS, creating .mpg files that work fine on the PC, and every DVD I burn comes out out of sync. Looking for any tips, and thanks in advance!
Hi. I would suggest first trying a different conversion program to see if the problem persists. The following are widely used and have free trials. VSO's ConvertXtoDVD: http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/ DVD Copy 5 Platinum: http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/InterVideoDVDCopy_Profile.jsp TMPGEnc Xpress 4: http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/te4xp.html#trial DVD Santa: http://www.dvdsanta.com/ The Film Machine: http://members.home.nl/thefilmmachine/ Both ConvertX and DVD Santa watermark their trial version output. DVD Copy used to be fully functional without watermarking and I assume still is. TMPG last time I paid attention did only a limited number of minutes in the trial version. ConvertX seems to be the popular choice here. Strange problems can also result from poor quality burns. Be sure you use good quality media like Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, and Made in Japan lebeled Fuji and Sony, use up to date burner firmware, and don't burn at max speed. Also try playing the burned disks on other players, including the PC. I don't mean playing the AVIs or the captures. I'm referring to playing back the burned DVD on the PC. If the disk plays back correctly everywhere except the standalone player, that'll pretty much point the finger at the problem. Out of sync audio often results from the timestamps being removed from the video during an editing process. When the files are converted, there isn't anyway to match the audio and video back up because of the missing timestamps. Here's something that can help sometimes. http://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=228458 The ultimate solution is to separate the audio and video streams -- demux -- and then put them back together so they match up. This is time consuming, requires expertise, and not something most will want to do.
I'm also having problems in this nightmare of a process. Why is such a popular use of a home computer - downloading and burning movies - proving so problematic and intricate to fix? I have experienced the following problems:- * Converting a perfectly synched and running avi file to DVD using IMTOO results in the audio finishing about 5 minutes before the actual film (the audio is presumably running faster) and thus ending the DVD before the visual feature has even finished * The exact same problem with DVDSANTA * Converting the same file through NERO gives some apparently random tiny audio gaps and I'm fairly sure the synching is still out (though not quite as bad as before) I have taken on board the solutions offered in this thread and will try yet more converters, but what about this thought:- When I was about to convert my last AVI file, NERO popped up with a box advising me that, from memory, my project was "mostly NTSC, but you are about to convert the file to PAL - do you want to instead convert the file to NTSC which is the majority of the file, or convert it all to PAL?". I opted to convert it all to PAL. How can an AVI file be "mostly NTSC"? Surely an uploaded film is one or the other - PAL or NTSC? I'm sure this has something to do with the synching problems and even the audio dropouts I've experienced. Any thoughts from the experts? Cheers
I did another film, and this time clicked "yes" to change the settings to NTSC. This is the exact message from NERO:- "Your product contains more NTSC than PAL material, but will be encoded in PAL if you use the current settings. Do you want to change the settings to NTSC, so that your project will be encoded in the video mode that matches the majority of the project's contents?" The results: horrendous - the audio seems to run at normal speed, but the picture is obviously slowed way down as it lags behind by several seconds right from the start
Hi Laddyboy To answer your question as to what media I'm using - the answer is none as I write my finnished compilation to the hard drive folder. I have also burt the same file to a re-writeable dvd so to save on having lots of coasters ( at least the re-writeable disc can be re-used ) Anyhow I have to say I have used all the converting programs you have suggested, and as I said in my last post I did like CONVERT X mainly because this reduced my filesize even more, and I did not notice any quality loss. All my files ( films ) play fine no matter what I use to view them first ( nero showtime, win media player, power dvd or vlc player ). It's only when the dvd is authored using nero, which as I mentioned before never used to be a problem. My normal course of action was - download or capture films - select make my own dvd in nero - select mostly 3 films - create a menu & burn. At the end of all that my dvd's used to always be fine. This problem seemed to have risen upon me after I updated nero to it's latest release then when I noticed the audio sync problem & looked for advice on various forums I got various advice to downgrade to an earlier version of nero, which I did & alsways using the nero clean tool. I have went right back to probably just about every version with no sucess. So if you can suggest another program that is similar to that of nero - where I can put 2, 3 or more films on the 1 dvd with the ease of nero, and allow me to create a menu too I would be gratefull for that.
I use ConvertX to do the AVI to DVD conversion. I then use TMPGEnc Author to do the menu if needed and compilation for burning. TMPGEnc Author accepts both mpeg files and DVD VOBs as input. TMPG is not free but version 1.6 has a fully functional free trial. I've also used NeroVision to do the menu after conversion by ConvertX. I usually do one file conversion at a time rather than several. Have you gone back and tried Nero version 6.6.0.18? It's the preferred version of Nero 6 and the one many of us still use. It may not work as a free trial since you've had Nero 7 installed. If you previously had Nero 6 and a valid serial number, it'll work as a registered version. To try it, you have to run the Nero 7 Clean Tool and uninstall Nero 7. http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html Nero 6.6.0.18 is here: Package 1: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe Package 2: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe
thanks laddyboy for your quick reply, and I will try all as you have suggested in your post. Just a quick question - If I do successfully uninstall nero 7 using thier cleantool, and instal the 6.0.0.18 version along with nerovision 3.1.0.21 will this bring me back to my good old days when all was nice & easy to make my compilation dvd's without having to go through numerous processes first & finaly after I use the cleantool is it worth going to regedit, and typing in nero 7 in the search box to see if there are still nero program fragments as I have found in the past when using neros cleantool that when I use regedit there are still bits of nero still there. So in essence the cleantool does not remove everythin - NERO or should I leave these other parts intack if I find them? - thank you for all your support on this problem as I'm sure it's also helping lot's of others with similar problems.
Thanx Laddyboy for the excellent tip. I was using version 4 of Nerovision adn it would simply never synchronise the sound properly. Now I reverted back to version 3.1.0.21 and it is working as it should. Many many thanx!
@bobwheel2 The Clean Tool removes the program but usually leaves traces, so yes, doing a search for Nero through the registry is a good idea especially if you want to use Nero 6 in trial version mode.
