Hey friends Im having a hugh problem i hope you all can help me solve.. I backed up a couple of data unto a few DVDs but the thing is the file type is a .DAT and i cant get this file open or restored or anything nero back it which created the darn thing in the first place cant open the file so now im at a loss as to how to recover these files....can anyone help
Hi JuckyJam,Have just done my first disc backup using NeroBackitup. If you are backingup a disc you will need to go into BIOS and change your boot order so that you are booting from your Dvd and not your hard disc.Hope this is a help Cheers flylor
Thanks much flyer I tried booting from the dvd drive as you said and it booted ok but then the dos program is telling me that there is no back up files on the dvd, so I did a browse of the dvd in the dos program and i saw the files related to the nero dos program but not the DAT files, so it seems that nero dos program is not recognising the DAT files either.
What version are you using ? If you are using any Backitup version of Nero 7 you will eventually find its very buggy and not very reliable. Ok just looked at the Nero page and I had no idea they had implemented bootable backups awhile back. I have been using an older more stable version of Nero 7 like many people on this board and was not aware of this new feature - Sorry So the newer versions of Backitup store in .dat files ? Is this because of compression or are you not using compression?
Hi All Sorry i cant really help much as i am new at this.First time i have done a backup with nero.Did it with version 6.Have version 7 but have found it to be rather useless.THANKS NERO FOR TAKING MY MONEY..Cheers flylor
I was unaware of the whole bootable disk thing too..Im using version 6 not 7 version 7 crashed my system too much dont know why i enabled the compression wen i was making the back-up...bouy i guess nero fell down HARD on this one
hey i ran into a prob today when i tride to open the back it up discs. anyway if you read the read me!!!!!!! file it will tell you what file you need to copy to open the Unzip the back it up. if there is more than 1 disc it will be on the last disc copy the file to where youre going to restore everything then put the first disc in and double click the file you copied and follow the instructions.
