    Hey all,

I backed up a bunch of pics w/ nero 7. Installed trial 9, and got as far as seeing the pics in a file, but not being able to access them. I have all 4 dvd's, but cant see the .mbi on them any more. I did get nero 5 to see the mbi's, put to a folder on my desk top, but now they are in iso form. I tried making that image to dvd, but I only got copies of the iso files.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Chas

It is a good idea to restore backups with original program. If you have Nero 5, 7and 9 all in a same PC, there may be a conflict issues.

    Can you explain,
“got as far as seeing the pics in a file, but not being able to access them” ?

And I do not have good idea how you get “iso form” on yyour desktop…

I did reinstall 7, and proceed with the restore as the program wanted. Lots of restore failures. I have sent the Nero team a copy of the log file, and screen shots. I still can't find the restored pictures though.

The restored pictures at a guess will be in a folder marked "nero"it maybe located in documents or program files, then you'll need to look thru nero's sub folders, surprises me it didn't show you the location in the selection screen, unless it did put them in the my pictures

EDIT: The best way to make backups of data is drop n drag, nero will let you do that if you have incd installed that way any comp can access the disk, for operating system back up including data get ghost or acronis, much better than nero.

I assume (because it is not clear to me) that
you backed up your file using BackItUp with its compression, and
you read the disc with Windows Explorer and can see its contents.

I’m thinking that you cannot “access them” because each files were compressed. (check its file extension.)

Have you be able to restore (uncompress) any of those files?
If you haven’t, can you start BackItUp program?

    If I were you,
I’ll uninstall all of Nero's, use Nero Clean Tool and reinstall Nero 7 from scratch.

Whatever versions of nero you installed it would pay to use each of the particular uninstall tools for them, then once cleaned use ccleaner to do a registry cleanup, might pay to do a defrag as well then reinstall nero 7,if all went well then update after a restart

I decided to restore the pics again. This time I watched where Nero was wanting to put them. I found most of my pics, but there are other's that failed to restore for some reason. I am still waiting on a reply from Nero them selve's.

    Thanks for the help,

    Chas
