I was able to burn DVD+R DL data discs using Nero two weeks ago, but now it doesnt work. Something has changed, but I don't know what.
What I am trying to do is backup large amounts of JPGS(my photos) from the hard drive. This worked fine 2 weeks ago: I pointed Nero BackItUp(a subset under Nero 6.3.1.6) at a folder that has around 7GB of files in it, and it burned it fine. But, not now!

I am using Verbatim DVD+R DL discs. I have 3 new boxes of them.
I have latest firmware on burner, which is firewire-attached.
My system config can be seen in my signature.
Nero 6.3.1.6(worked fine before, so what's up now?)
    1.5GB RAM, P4 1.9Ghz

I get an ill feeling each time I waste another $3 coaster.
Also, isn't there ANY way to do a non-burning "test" mode in advance, so I don't waste a 8GB disc on each of these 40-second tests? Incredibly wasteful.

I have log below of the error. Are there any experts here that can tell me why this is failing?

    Thanks,
    Robert

Here is log from the last burn attempt, which failed after about 40 seconds:

DMA should be on for all drives. Here is a guide to fix it: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038

Nero version is ancient as well. Get 6.6.0.18 here:

    http://httpdl2.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe

Start with 2.4X and see if you can get a successful burn, 8X is a bit much for DL media.

This error typically means that your burner doesn't like your media, but Verbs are top notch...especially the dually's.

This is a Roxio driver, which can seriously screw with Nero...I would clean Roxio off your system. Here is a clean tool:

    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml
