having used Nero for some time to back up about 3.5gb of working data, I now have a problem with the "refresh compilation" taking around 20-30 minutes instead of the few seconds it used to take, ive tried erasing all data on the dvd & starting again but i still get the same result - does anyone have any ideas as to what i'm doing wrong?

Im using Nero 6. When asked to refresh compilation it appears to be checking through the whole of the DVD rather than using the backup info to check the hard drive, thus making the process very slow.

let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar.

You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

    - real old but not sure that's causing your problem, update to 6.6.0.18 from here (Update_package 1) (you may not want the Yahoo-toolbar enabled version) - http://www.nero.com/nero6/en/nero-up.php

    - firmware's up to date

    - i can see from the log that you're doing multisession, dunno if that's got anything to do with your problem maybe. other than Nero being out of date all i can suggest is try another disc as rest of your Nero setup looks sweet
