    Hi there,

I am having a lot of problems burning DVD's with Nero. It used to work absolutely fine but now i seem to be getting "could not perform end of disc at once" and "writing short lead out" errors. I have read the forums and enabled my DMA by uninstalling and re-installing my secondary channel but still no sucess. Would really appreciate some advice. Here is my log ...

here is a link for Nero update:

    ftp://ftp.us2.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe

You are also burning a little too colose to the edge of the disc.

    Hi there,

Thanks for your replies. I have updated the firmware for my burner and updated Nero but now i am having a different problem. My burner doesn't seem to recognise blank discs I am putting in. As i go to burn on Nero it just keeps throwing the disc out saying it needs a blank disc even though i know the disc i am putting in is blank. Since i have updated the firmware do i need to configure it to read blank discs?

    Cheers for your help.

BTW - had this problem with not reading blank discs with Nero 7 that Whompus recommended and with the update for 6.6.0.8 which cyprusrom recommended.

Also - cyprusrom - by buring too close to the disc i aussume you mean burning too much data onto the disc. Is there a recommended amount of data to burn on a 4.7 dvd?

Thanks, i've installed In CD - i'm now using the Nero 7.0.5.4 demo - but Nero still doesn't seem able to read my blank DVD's - neither DVD-R or DVD-RW - just keeping opening my drive and chucking the disc out at me - saying waiting for disc and please insert the disc to be written too.
Any other advice? Cheers in advance.

Is the problem only when you use Nero? Do you have the same problem when you try to burn with, for example , DVD Decrypter?
And, DO NOT INSTALL INCD!! That gives nero burning problems.
If you want to use Nero 7,you should use version 7.0.14b, as the latest one, 7.0.5.4 has bugs, does not work properly.

    ftp://ftp3.usw.nero.com/software/nero7/Nero-7.0.1.4b_eng_no_yt.exe

When you updated the firmware, did you get a succesful update message?

check to see if you have to use dvd+R and check your burner settings by going to my computer right click on your burner and click properties then look at your settings check nero for the proper settings region ect... find the manuel for your burner and check yhat too but first try dvd+R. get back to me.

hi patsfan, my burner is definately DVD-RW i've burnt loads of DVD's that are DVDR- before. everything was working fine then it just stopped burning. since then i have updated my fireware, updated nero and it just seems i am having more and more problems. now nero doesn't seem to recognise blank dvd's anymore (see previous post). i've changed nero from 7.0.5.4 to 7.0.1.4 as someone suggested and now nero doesn't even seem to recognise my drive! it is now just saying sorry this nero version supports recorders only. it's becoming extremely frustrating - any advice greatly appreciated.

if you are having that many problems with nero 7 go to the nero site and try using version 6 if that works i will send you a copy of nero 6 thats what i use and i have no problems if you want to spend a little money like $79.00 you have to get roxio easy creator 8 it is the best program for everything. but if you only want to copy dvd's get dvd x-copy platnium at 321 studios.com i bought it for $29.00 get back to me.
