Ive been using Nero for awhile with no problems but I just bought a new kind of dvd and started getting this error over and over. I got the memorex dvd+r which i thought would work fine since I have a memorex burner but apparently not. Is it just the dvd or something wrong with the burning process? Hi. Edit out your Nero serial number beginning 1A... that appears directly beneath this line about halfway down your log: ----- Begin NeroAPI error log ----- I'd uninstall your current version of Nero, run the Nero 6 Clean Tool, and install version 6.6.0.18 with these two packages: http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/Nero_6_CleanTool.html Package 1: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe Package 2: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe You also have Nero InCD installed which can sometimes cause problems. The Nero InCD Clean Tool can be used to get rid of it unless you have to have it. http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/InCD_Clean_Tool.html The Memorex media you have is actually made by Ricoh which is not the best but usually OK. Good media is made by Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, and Sony and Fuji labeled as made in Japan. There is a Roxio CDRAL driver installed which can cause problems with burning in some configurations. You might want to uninstall any Roxio software you might have like Easy Media Creator and run the Roxio Zapper to eliminate the driver: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/EE6000061 I'm not at all familiar with your burner. You might want to check with Memorex and see if there's a firmware update available. I can't locate that burner in any of the firmware databases. Since you're using Recode you might also try selecting the Image Recorder as the output device and create a Nero image (nrg file extension) file. Then burn that image file with ImgBurn. http://www.imgburn.com
@scratchy1 Since you have been burning with Nero before you bought the new media, that is probably the problem. Roxio wasn't causing any problems before, so I would keep it if you use it. I have had Nero and Roxio installed for over 2years without conflicts (InCD is not installed) A lot of Nero logs show up with Roxio installed and these people have been burning fine until another problem crops up. If you have no use for Roxio then uninstall it, but I doubt that it solves the problem. By all means get rid of InCD. I wish someone would tell me when this myth began about Roxio and Nero conflicting. At least EZ Media Creator 7 and Nero 6.6 don't on my 2.26P4 Dell. Edit: @bctigger, Nero burns + or - DVD Rs. Where did you get that idea?
@ garmoon It's only some configurations where conflicts between Roxio and Nero seem to result. IHOE and I discussed this recently since both of us had had both Roxio and Nero software installed with no apparent problems. It's also not a myth, but something recommended by Nero a few years ago. Nero even has a Tool for removing other possibly offending drivers.
My NERO 6 manual says it only burns DVD- format, and I have always had problems burning DVD+ and never had problems with DVD-.
Funny that millions of us have been using Nero 6 to burn +R media for several years. Maybe your burner only burns -R format media. Is it an older one?
@ bctigger Given that one whole bunch of us here use +R media and use Nero 6 and Nero 7 to burn it pretty much puts to lie your claim that Nero 6 only can be used with -R media. If your manual says that, perhaps it's because it was written with your burner in mind which may only burn -R media. I don't know. However, I do know that Nero allows burning +R media if the burner supports it, as do all the others in these forums that use Nero with +R media. We are correcting a misstatement and communication of erroneous information by you, not arguing with you.
run your dvd thru vob blanker first then run it through nero, that should work i was haveing the same problem and doing that worked like a charm, dvds have protections now even in the empty spaces and vob blanker will remove them, nero cannot compress empty space or even code it so that is why you need to run it through vob blanker, goto www.dvdrhelp.com for vob blanker
