I have uninstalled nero, used the nero clean tool and installed the latest version of nero. The latest version didn't want to work at all with my Aopen duw/1608/arr. So I went back to using the version that made the log above. It was the version shipped with my DVD/cd burner.

I have tried to burn DVDs using other software (after uninstalling Nero and using the clean tool before installing them). DVD Decryptor and DVDsanta both had burn failures.

Out of a pack of 25 maxell dvd-r's I have managed to burn 1 dvd successfully and it was the first one I tried. After that I have made a bunch of coasters.

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Vehement

The problem began before I updated the Firmware.

@vehement - i've taken note of your comments but am gonna focus on the logfile for now -

    - that is way too old. there's nothing unique about your drive that Nero doesn't like. install latest Nero and give us the output of a section of logfile and the output from nero info-tool.

    - drive is only partially recognising the media - all it can tell here is that's a +R disc

    - splat.

go thru the motions of installing 6.6.0.15 again, then do a 'simulation' burn in Nero and provide that section of logfile.. without a current logfile we can't progress properly..

@RagePro - firmware updating is essential as it teaches burners about media types/newer media/burn speeds etc and it's only ever a problem if te firmware update is interrupted mid-update, ie from power failure or resetting the pc, as that corrupts the drive due to incomplete firmware update

To add to what creaky stated about a firmware flash never leave a disk in the drive while doing it, you will really get a meltdown :)

Thanks Creaky and others for taking the time to respond to my burning problem.

The company that built my computer have replaced the burner (AOpen Duw/1608/arr) with a new burner (Aopen Duw/1616/ARR). (My computer was still covered by warranty)

The techs who built my computer told me that Aopen had sent out a batch of burners (model# DUW/1608/ARR) that had issues with burning DVD's due to a "faulty lower chip".

However I think it's strange that nothing is mentioned about it on the AOpen website.

Anyway I have been able to burn DVDs without any hassles with the new burner. Of course I will not torture my new burner with any memorex media.

    Thanks again for the responses.
