Hello. There's newer firmware, version 1.33, for your burner here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=299 Click on the version number to download and then doubleclick the downloaded file. The DMA transfer mode is off on the IDE channel of your burner. It needs to be reset. Follow the guides below: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/checking DMA.pdf http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038 It's best to avoid burning all the way to the edge of your disk. Set the target output size to 4350 or 4400 in whatever authoring program you're using. You didn't include the list of drivers in use so I cannot tell if there is a driver conflict or not. Update your burner firmware and reset the DMA transfer mode and see if the problem resolves. If not then reinstall Nero by first running the Nero 6 Clean Tool before reinstalling version 6.6.0.18. Let us know how you make out.
turn on DMA for your burner..... here's how: http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/231/dmaissues Do not multitask..... or add more memory. some members like TDK.... I use better media...... Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Sony..... MADE IN JAPAN disk are the best. and you cut off your log file..... want to see your EXISTING DRIVERS.... you could have InCD installed and that causes problems.... you could have Roxio drivers installed and that causes problems, too. please post the bottom of the log file. thanks
Thanks guys everything looks good, i updated my firmware and also turned on my DMA but it is a little differnet from the guide. For my primary IDE it says Device 0 Device Type: Auto detection (shaded gray) Transfer Mode: DMA if Available Current Transfer Mode: Ultra DMA mode 5 Device 1 is a little different device type: Auto detection (not shaded, could scroll to none) transfer mode: dma if available current transfer mode: not applicable should that be correct? thanks for your help.

The internal target error is a nebulous one. It could be media related or hardware related. First, try creating an ISO image file with your authoring software and then burning that ISO image file with ImgBurn. In Nero it's called an nrg file instead of an ISO file, although same difference. If that works, it's likely a problem with Nero. http://www.imgburn.com If burning with ImgBurn doesn't work, try a different media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, or Made in Japan labeled Fuji or Sony (which will likely be TY manufactured. Also try a +R disk if you have one around. Actually using an +RW DVD would be best until things get sorted out. If burning with ImgBurn doesn't work and you've tried different media, install the drive in another system and see if it works correctly there. If you have another system readily available, I might do that first just to ensure the burner is indeed working correctly. If it doesn't work in that system with different media, the drive is likely bad. That drive has been known to be a bit picky about media.
