Everytime I try to burn a movie onto disc it stops after 90% and says 'Illegal Disc'. The discs are new, Verbatim brand. Is it possible the problem lies in the fact that the movie I'm burning was transcoded using DivxToDVD? Whenever I play the DVD from my harddrive there's never any problems. Any help would greatly appreciated! Just a couple of things I picked up...your Nero is very old, update that but not to Nero7, also your DMA is set to OFF, no doubt someone else will check it out in more depth. There shouldnt be a problem DivxToDVD I use it quiet often.
Hi there, As gwendolin mentioned, you Nero is quite old. Get the latest v6.6.0.16 Based on this webpage: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?category=14&manufactor=39 Your DVD Burner is a Ricoh and v1.03 is the latest firmware for your drive... The logs mentioned you are using DVD+R but no media ID. What's the Media ID of those disks ? VSO Inspector v1.1 can tell you the media id. OR Once using Nero v6.6.0.16, it's usually displayed in the logs ! Try a slower burn (2x) on those media, they might be cheap, and might help burning at 2x on them !
@G101 - no-one's quoted that in this thread..... edit- yes i can see the quote now, dunno why Firefox can't search for it. Argh! ...however my opinion on Nero 7 is let everyone else be the guinea pigs for bugs and new 'features', why waste your own blak media when there are scores of ppl out there willing to sacrifice their time/media
Hi, Thanks everyone for all your advice. I upgraded my Nero to 6.6, but when I tried to burn again I had the same problem. Because the discs are 8x the slowest I can burn at is 4x (my laptop's maximum) - it wont let me burn any slower. ..in addition to the other comments... - try to close down more programs prior to dvd work/burning to free up more memory - the burner can't recognise that disc properly, here's an example (not the best example as it's CMC but it's an example) of what it should look like - - you should have a 3line paragraph describing the disc when the firmware recognises the disc; your discs must be newer than your firmware knows what to do with. identify one of those discs as per cougar_ii's request. it won't help you use those discs but it helps us work out which discs they are - see previous comment
I don't see much, except the few below. 1.03 looks like the latest firmware. However, it can not recognize the media's manufacture id code. If you can google/search the net for any newer firmware to see if that'll help. What kind of media you're using by chance? My top 3 choices of media are Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim and Maxell (made in japan) -- they're top notch. Looks like your burner doesn't like the media you're using here. Try another high quality media like Yuden, Verbatim or Maxell (m.i.j) and see if you'll have a successful result. Something is not right here, see above reply for better media.
Hi, thanks for your help creaky, cougar & alkohol. I've downloaded DVD Identifier, and these are the results for one my unused Verbatim DVDs. (I've been using Verbatim DVDs throughout - don't suppose it makes any difference that I bought them eBay? @alkohol - you're psychic my friend methinks you're being mesmerized by that honey in your signature (or i'm replying to threads i know you're gonna answer just so i can see that signature) :O
@Creaky How's it going buddy? LOL.... my honey looks very sexy, exotic and lovely at the same time -- you will be hypnotized by her easily, lol. Little off topic here, anyways, this is not the "anyone seen any great movie(s) lately" thread in the "all other topics," but I thought I saw you mentioned that you're going to watch Jackie's Project A & Project A: II. Honestly, I think part 2 is not as good as the first part - the actions are not on par with the first part, but comedy is roughly about the same. I highly recommend Jackie's New Police Story (2005) - this one is not the usual comedy type, instead it's more like a drama (a different kind of Jackie), and again the actions are good as usual.
