    I've also tried cleaning my writer but still the result occurs. Is it possible that my cd burner is damaged? it can still read cds and dvd. Is there a program that could check if my burner is already damaged.

    by the way, sonic stage is also installed in my computer.

    Update firmware to 1.5g from here ftp://ftp.vaio.sony.co.jp/pub/vaio/download/PK-000363-02/PK-000363-02.exe

    It is recommended to have at least 512 meg RAM to burn DVDs successfully.

    thanks for the quick reply gwendolin. I'll try your advice.

    PS my burning also wouldn't work on data cds, mp3 even when using a cdr.

    Hi sheftzus
    Your firmware on your drive is up to date but it's not recognizing the cd's you are using. Could be the reason for the No seek complete
    error.
    Which brand are you using?

    The drive is a bit older - laptop burners imho don't last as long.
    May not be the issue so 1st I would switch the cd's to made in Japan Fuji or Maxell.

    Physical memory : 190MB
    Free physical memory: 26MB
    Memory in use : 85

    Alot of memory in use - free as much up as possible. No multi tasking and shut down any unnecessary programs.

    Burn process failed at 12x
    Try 8x on these cd's and see if that helps.

    What's after this in the log Existing drivers:
    That part is missing.

    @gwen - txs missed the firmware :)

    @sheftzus
    You're good there on that part of the log.

    Try the firmware update, reduce the burn speed, free up memory and try again.

    Once you update the firmware you can check the manufacturer of the cd's. Go ToolKit>CD-DVD Speed (have a blank in) click on the disc tab. The manfacturer info should be there.

    Keep us posted -good, bad or otherwise.
    If it fails again - post the new log.

    hi guys, i've updated my computer's firmware and before burning closed all unnecessary programs, set the speed to the lowest, used a maxell cd but still failed to burn. the error log is the same as the one before. Then I uninstalled nero, thinking that it was conflicting with the other program sonic stage, cleaned all the nero stuff in my registry, restarted and tried to burn with sonic stage and got the same result as in burning with nero. i think the problem is in my writer because if you look at the back-side of the cd it always stops burning at the same point (and I've had lots of those).

    anyway, thank you for your help.

    @sheftzus
    You've tried different media, cleaned the lens, different programs etc with same result.

    The missing part of the log that you posted didn't show the driver that doesn't play well with Nero. You even cleaned Nero off and still a burn failure.

    I'm leaning more towards your drive is on the way out.
    As a last shot you can try another brand of media.

    edit: spelling
