I just upgraded to Nero 6.6 Ultra but can't seem to get my .avi files converted to video_ts.vob files (is this different from just .vob files)? So, i got DivX to DVD and when I add my .avi files to convert, I get an error saying the "List Index Out of Bounds (0)". What does this mean? Also, if I am eventually able to get this to convert (by the help of someone else) will it convert to .vob or video_ts.vob? I have .vob files but Nero won't burn them unless the are video_ts.vob. Is there a difference? As you can tell, I am lost and desparately in need of some help and explanation. Somebody please help me. Thanks in advance!!
Are your avis downloaded? Note that downloaded avis often contain errors. You may try check for and correct them with e.g. AviFixed (but be sure to back up the avis first): http://www.free-codecs.com/download/AVIFixed.htm You can then try VSO DivxToDVD again. Good luck!
Thank you for repying scf_au. I was able to get the avifix program and after I ran my avi through it, I was then able to convert it in dvx. However, when I did, I believe it correctly created the IFO and MPEG files but not the BUP files. I'm guessing this because the BUP files have the icon you have next to files when they don't have a program that run them (I hope you know what I'm talking about), almost like a Microsoft paint icon, but not exactly. Anyway, so I burn them with Nero and I get a warning saying that some files may cause the DVD to be non-readable. Is this due to the BUP files? Also, is there a difference between regular .vob files and video_ts.vob files? I have another clip in .vob which Nero refuses to burn because it is not video_ts.vob. Thanks again for your help.
I just read another thread and I seem to be in a simliar, probably not the same, situation as darcangel. To be honest, I have tried many different programs and am spending quite a lot of money trying to get this tow work. I have also tried purchasing Xilisoft. This program seems to only convert to .vob and not video_ts.vob. So, Nero won't burn them. I have heard a lot of Easy DVD Srhink. Would this work better in my situation? I have never used it before but am willing to buy it if it will work for me. I'm pretty much in a crunch for time (personal reasons) and everytime I try something new, it seems I get one step closer but yet not quite. Is there any one stop fix? When I try burning .vob files in Nero, it tells me to author the files. I don't see any program in Nero 6.6 Ultra named NeroVision (this is what the error suggested using) to author the files to video_ts.vob. Divx to DVD seems to work ok but something seems to be wrong with the BUP files (previous post). Please help.
After you have converted with VSO, check to see whether you have a video_ts folder with .bup, .ifo, and .vob files inside. Then try to play the movie by clicking the 'video_ts.ifo' file. If both go well, then you should be able to burn to dvd with no problem. By the way, it's better to use Nero Recode for the final burning: Run Recode, choose 'copy entire dvd to dvd', then 'import dvd', then go highlight the video_ts folder, and follow from there. Good luck!
It really doesn't matter. If the movie plays alright after converting with VSO, any burning program can handle the final burning from there. But yes, Nero Recode is part of the Nero Burning Suite.
Since you say that Nero Recode is better, I trust your word and would also prefer to use the "Recode" method. I have Nero 6.6, would you be able to tell me how I would use the "Recode" application (ie. NeroSmartStart or Burning Rom). I have searched but was unable to find it. I am beginning to think my version didn't come with it for some reason. I am a beginner (as if you didn't notice ^^) so would you please take me through step by step as to running Recode in Nero 6.6? I would really appreciate it. Thanks again for continuing to help me out through this process, I hope to soon be able to do myself.
Ok, hopefully this will be last question to you. First of all, I'd like to ask you to disregard my last post. I was able to download the updates and get Nero Recode. I was also able to burn the DVD. But, of course there's a "but", when I try to play the DVD, I get perfect sound but the picture is really messed up. When I say "messed up" I mean the tracking is off the wall. I get dizzy after 5 seconds. Behind the tracking, the picture seems to be fine. I tried lowering the write speed and still the same result. Is there anything you can think of that might be causing this? I was so excited after seeing that my DVD was created "successfully" but yet so disappointed when I wasn't able to watch it. What could be causing the tracking to be so bad? Any ideas? Any ways to fix it?
Ah ~~~~~~~~~~ *_* First of all, I trust you are burning at low speed (e.g. 2-4x). If not, do that. That settled, if the movie plays fine before the final burning but not afterwards, then it could be a media issue. But before blaming everything on it, you could try the Shrink-Nero route: 1) Link Shrink with Nero by choosing 'edit', 'preferences', 'file i/o', and check 'enable burning with Nero". 2) Run Shrink, click 'open files', then go highlight the 'video_ts' folder of the movie, and follow from there. If this still doesn't work, you may need to change your media. Good luck!
I have good news and bad news. I was able to burn my first successfuly and viewable DVD, thanks to you. I did this by using NeroVision. I used the same file I tried in Nero Recode, but it came out with no errors and the tracking was fine. But, when I tried again on Recode, it still has the tracking issues. Weird. After all of this, I learned of something, which to you, will seem extremely stupid. However, since you have helped me so much along my way, I thought I was obligated to tell you of my stupid mistake I realized I had made. When I went to the store to buy recordable DVD's, the sales rep told me that most DVD players play -R dvd's and some do not play +R's. So, me not knowing much, and through the recommendation of the rep, I purchased the -R dvds. I hadn't noticed until yesterday that my recorder is a +R recorder. I know, how could I not have known. I'm assumung this is what you mean when you say that it may be a media problem. I am going to the store to get some empty +R's tomorrow and will let you know how they come out. But, why would NeroVision work and Recode not? What do people mean when they say Nero Recode is the better program to use when burning? How is this so?
You won't believe the stupid mistakes I've made. *_* Anyway, so long as it works...... Let's celebrate! Nero Recode should be better for burning whole disks (ie. with video_ts files). But what the hack, if Nero Vision works for you, use it. If somehow in the future it stops working, then try something else. Cheers!
